Can I dare to go on the MFW journey

I've been a bad bad MFW.... huge spending spree over the last week... new job is in central London and there is temptation everywhere.... colleagues going for coffee left right and centre and as the new kid on the block I feel I need to come along to make an effort to get to know everyone
Also had to update wardrobe and spent £££
Then spent a good chunk of money on a birthday pesent (best friend's 30th so special occasion) and a few weddings also not cheap. Friday night £80 went up in smoke

So first month in new job over... and what a month it has been... crazy madness best describes this... so I've been holding back on OPs as I wasn't sure how much my pay will be in total and to be honest I have still not worked out my new in and out-goings but as not to fall off the band wagon I have OP £800 and therefore make my monthly target in the nick of time... off to update my sig0

Oh I can never resist... once the payday fairy chucks money into my account I feel compelled to transfer it over to the mortgage without necessarily thinking whether I'll need it later or not..... ah well another 1k thrown onto the bonfire of MFW!0

So having looked at incomings for this month I've decided to shift another 1k to the mortgage- my rational is that it's better to overshoot my target than keep extra cash back especially as I can always pay less next month but the impact on interest will be greater that way. Who knows I might even manage to get below the 120k mark before the year is over.... fingers crossed...0

New lodger is giving me a bit of a headache- rent was supposed to get into my account on the 1st- it's my bills account and bills come out on the 2nd. Checked account on 2nd- overdrawn as no rent money in but bills out. This is the first time in my entire life that I have been overdrawn! !!!!!! So I asked him and he explained he had lost his card dangle thing to set it all up online so had to go to the bank but money will be in account on 5th and then 1st of every month. God knows why it takes so long. ?.... so today is the 5th- no money as of yet!!!!:mad::mad:0

So money shuffles completed and 1200 overpaid for this month as planned- feeling very poor now! New job pays quite a bit less than the old one and there has been a mix up with my pension contributions so was paid less than I should this month. Not entirely sure what is going on so plan for this weekend is to sit down and scrutenise those paychecks. That's as exciting as my life gets at the moment!0

Happy New Year everyone
Can't believe it's been 2 months since I last posted- time flies! New job is still keeping me busy and confused on the money front. Went on a 2 week long work trip in December and am waiting for some expenseto be paid back to me. That will be 1k on the mortgage before the month is up. I also remortgaged with my current provider to 1.49% + base rate (1.99%) life time tracker- means my mortgage payments have been recalculated which has left me confused with regards to my OPs. I used to only count extra transfers as OPs even though my standing order mortgage payment included an ever changing OP amount too. Now this has dropped I need to make bigger extra transfers to keep the same level of OPs. Does this make sense? It seems to be proofing a psychological hurdle....
I have no idea how much my OPs have been in December. Have chucked £1800 on since the new year and balance is at 118316 :T:T
Aim for 2014: get below the 100k mark
How to achieve aim? Work socks off

So again have let things slip a bit on here. However I got my yearly mortgage statement through today and am so chuffed I need to share the numbers with you.
Feb 2013 153854
Feb 2014 115683 :j:j:j
Also thanks to changing to a lower interest rate my monthly interest payments have fallen from about £310 to £200:T:T
Oh it's a great feeling :A
Right enough self congratulations- back to work!0 -
Got a cheque for a refund for cancelled gig tickets for £20 in the post today- will need to make it into town despite the weather to pay it in. Also made another 70 through market research which I have already earmarked for some house related spending...
So the goal for this year is to get below 100k! 15683 in 10 months- adding in interest I will need to put roughly 1760 in every month- not sure if that's doable but I have signed up for a second job which should pay me about 200 extra a month...
Oh god....0 -
Haven't posted in ages but I wanted to share with you all that as of yesterday the mortgage is below 100k :j:j:j:j
99997 to be precise- wow. Could not have done it without the inspiration gained through reading all the amazing diaries on here. Thank you all. :T:T
Now need to think of a new target....:rotfl:0
