            What is it you do?
I've just quit my part time job so I can concentrate on studies and still have some semblance of a home life. Otherwise it was basically uni-work-study-sleep with not much else, unless I let something else suffer. So I understand what you mean about work-life balance.
If you did it once a month it would be great, but obviously that depends on how many days off you get, when you would get to recover etc etc

First purchase through £co-felt a bit uncomfortable putting my bank details in but been reassured that's ok... Also will go and sign up for an extra shift for next month- it's the only day I haven't got plans for in 6 weeks- busy busy bee.
Also NSD today....0 -
As it so happened was asked if I could do an extra shift this week today and said yes... that should be an extra £180 once im getting paid... also mentioned I might be able to do a few in July and my name is down for one full and 4 half shifts.... bye bye social life, hello July OP

Fantastic news (about the OP that is, not the loss of your social life). With regards to your work life balance, I think the best thing to do is give it a try, just like you are doing, and see how you feel. You'll get a feel for how many extra shifts you can cope with. I would say that you could split what you earn, half towards mortgage op's and half towards a special treat (holiday fund, new tv etc) but is that defeating the object of doing extra shifts?

Thursday was payday- thank god for that!! Was a good one- new adjusted tax code, overtime and expenses reimbursement meant I got an extra 700. So have OP another £400 tonight making my 1200 OP target for June. :j
Also set up a 123 Santander account to earn cash back- need to sort the direct debits out...
Other than that super busy with career related stuff... big decision to make, not sure what to do and time ticking- argh:eek::eek::eek:0 -
Just OP another 700... signed up for 2 extra night shifts which will floor me this weekend but at least that means I'll be able to hit my 1200 OP target this month.... have been spending loads on doing up the house/repairs over the weekend and had visitors so went out for meals etc- outch but you only live once....0

Congrats on the OP - that is fab!
I know what you mean about hard work v social life (literally just put something similar on my post!)
I can only cope with it if I know what it exactly means. So for me that means for every £3k I overpay takes a month off my mortage (that's high because I have a target of next year)
If you set yourself a realistic payment date and then see what it takes to take a day or a week off that time, it really helps. You may find a night shift takes a week off your target date for example and then it will seem worth doing!!
(Does that even make sense!???)Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k
Savings: £3k
Aim: 100k by Dec 20210 -
Laura- I'm not sure it makes sense but then my brain is sleep deprived and over heating....
Just transferred another £500 which gets me to the 1200 target for this month :T
Is it worth it missing the hottest weekend in the year for? Not sure.... want to go and sit in the sun with a cold beer  but another 2 night shifts to go.... hope next weekend is also nice
Hurray Murray!!!!!!! :T :T0 -
Just got an email from my energy company- they have recalculated my direct debit to £11 less/month and will refund my existing credit of £175 directly into my bank account in the next 15 days.... I didn't even ask them for this! Great stuff... gotta love the C00P :j0

Got a letter through telling me that my current ISA rate is coming to an end at the beginning of Sep. I have about 11k in it which I was saving for a sabbatical which I'm now unlikely to take. As saving rates are so appaling it is tempting to put about half of this towards the mortgage and maybe keep 5k as an emergency fund.... hmmm don't know if this is a good amount or not... what do you guys think?0
