New lodger has been found... after I put an ad on gumtree we had a flood of replies and were spoiled for choice... he seems very nice and not like a twice daily showerer.... bought my season ticket last week (shock horror- the price is 2 months wages!) and been to a wedding so quite a lot of expenses... no OPs :-(

so far I have been working all the numbers out in my head- not terribly accurate unfortunately. Has anyone got a link to the famous spreadsheets being used by so many MFW. Would be greatly appreciated...

Bid on the specialist book at 75 £- result!! Also made the decision to dip into my ISA savings when the current special interest rate comes to an end for it I September. I'm planning on lumping 5k onto le mortgage... been daydreaming of getting below the 100k mark by the end of 2014... it is theoretically possible if I put 5k on the mortgage now and then overpay roughly 1375/month starting this September. ?. Hmmm might be doable but one hell of a challenge....

Calculated this wrong- if I put 5k in and stay on 1200 I should be under 100k by Jan 2015.... doable!!!

It's been an eventful week.... our little lovely dog died on Tuesday:cry:
He was only 2 years old and basically just dropped dead. My poor mum is distraught. He has been her empty nest replacement and they have been inseparable...very upsetting for us all.... so next day I ended up crying in front of new boss on my second day in new job... great start- not!
On the MSE front my new lodger has moved in and first lot of rent has come in. I've moved 400 into the mortgage but will hold fire on OP anymore till I'm sure what my new wage will translate into exactly so I'll hold fire.

Hi Laura- thanks for your kind words. Mum still very upset but we've decided the best thing might be to go get a new one straight away (same breed) to fill the void. Sounds insensitive maybe but she's all alone and the dog kept her busy and happy.
On the MSE front I've done a mini stoosh- bought season ticket on cash back credit card and transferred money from seperate account in to cover CC DD in mid September. Then remembered that my ISA bonus rate is coming to an end on Monday and I was planning taking half of my savings out and lumping it on the mortgage. Now I've transfered 5k as OP which will be replaced by ISA money in a couple of weeks in time for humongous CC bill. Thank you national rail for making my season ticket the price of an ok second hand car- grrrrr.
On a positive note though mortgage stands at 129 167!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I don't blame you for crying at work one bit. If anything happened to mine I'd be howling! And I've only had him a week!

Works with men, one out, one in, don't see why it shouldn't work with dogs ;).

Seriously, so sorry, what a shock. Getting a new dog straight away will keep your mum occupied, as you've said.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)
