Windows 8 is the future
In this case, Windows 8 is much better than 7 as it gives a lot more detailed information in task manager showing information such as the ram speed and the number of slots in use as well as making it clearer how much memory is being used and how much is available. All of this is possible with third party tools in Windows 7 but it's so much handier having it builtin.

But I just wanted to post in support of NiftyDigits who seemed to be getting a bit of backlash here and another thread.
I posted a question about RAM a few weeks ago and of the 3 who replied ND was the only one who actually answered my question and I found the site he provided a link for very informative with explanations.
For me Crucial ( but not only them, I tried another scanner) was unable to tell me accurately what I had installed, although it did suggest what I could install.0
