I want more Ram

How many companies actually *manufacture* RAM? 100? 50? 25? Probably a dozen tops, maybe fewer. There are a lot of assemblers, people who take chips from actual manufacturers and put them on boards, but actual end-to-end manufacturers are rare.
Crucial are one such complete manufacturer, they use their best grade chips for their branded RAM, which is why they're so confident about compatibility and quality.0 -

What has that got to do with the price of fish? Have you actually read anything of what has been written? Has anyone denigrated the quality of the product?0 -

So what is the issue? You either want to upgrade your RAM or you don't.
You asked about 2Gb of RAM. You have been shown both the Crucial RAM and a cheaper alternative, but you have neglected to purchase either because you wanted to find a yet cheaper alternative via eBay(according to what you have written).
Now you say that you would be happy to pay £14 or more. So pay it.
No one has argued about the quality of the RAM. The discussion was about the Crucial Tool(though it seems that some have missed that fact).
So buy either stick to upgrading to 4GB or buy a 4GB module to upgrade to 6GB RAM. All sensible suggestions. The only caveat is how deep your pockets may be.
If you are not bothered about the price, get a 4GB module.0 -
When I look to buy RAM I go to the Crucial site and find out what I need, and then check out the prices on ebay.
Crucial are a reputable company and no hassle, etc.; it's up to you whether you consider that worth paying the difference for.0 -
