I am surprised NiftyGit has not suggested what you should install!!!!

I would recommend that you install as much as you can afford.
But buy in pairs - i.e. 2GB + 2GB or 4GB + 4GB

I reckon this will be overruled shortly.

ive had a look on ebay and there seems to be cheaper DDR3 sticks.

As these are cheaper please can you guide me to what I need

You need to buy what the crucial site told you to buy.
Use the codes/serial no's from the crucial site.
It is up to you how much you buy.

You are having 2 x ram slot from what google tell me. To save money, I suggest you get a single stick of 4GB RAM, which make it 6GB in total.

Although RAM in pair is faster, I don't really see the point to go for 2 x 4GB for a budget machine.

I've seen the tool get the amount of slots wrong. Who wants to faff about having to get a full refund? Get it right in the first place.

Crucial is geared up to sell to you. Why do you think they have hidden all of the other options?

I speak from experience, not just looking for the easy option.

So I posted two links to the right kind of 2GB RAM modules. Simple. No need to blather on about the Crucial Tool or any other nonsense.

To be fair, I don't think he'll be saving money by spending £10 on RAM. He'll get more RAM capacity, but he won't be saving money.
