evening all, its been a long day here ! I got an emergency appointment for the kids at the docs, both DD & DS have tonsilitis, but DD also has an ear infection & doc says is probably a burst eardrum but she can't actually see it ! DD has gone deaf (again) & has to go back in 10 days for a checkup, doc says can take 6 weeks to heal & get hearing back - we go to florida in 7 weeks  Also waiting to hear about an out of hours appointment for OH who also now has tonisilitis. Re granny - we've been told today her cleaners are refusing to go back (she pays for them) cos the house is so dirty & unsafe. Mum says social services may make her go into a home cos she can't look after herself safely. That'll go down like a lead balloon when they tell her
Hope all of you are well, sorry for rambling on here. Hope everyone has a good holiday weekend (don't get it here unfortunately).

Evenin' all :hello:
I'm back! My ex has managed to make my laptop usable. I can't exactly say he has "mended" it - he says it's on its way out and will need replacing sooner rather than later. In the meantime to use it successfully I have to plug in an external keyboard and mouse, remove the main battery, and - this is the best bit - sellotape the front righthand corner to the table to remedy a loose connection :rotfl: How high tech is that? :rotfl:
I also have a working fridge freezer :j :j Apparently the entire batch had a design fault and they've had to replace thousands of them. The new one not only works, it's soooo much quieter than the old one! The other advantage is that in order to let the old one out and the new one in, I had to clear all my shelving out of the hallway, which gave me the chance too give it a proper clean. Now the hallway looks so lovely and spacious I don't want to put the shelves back - but until I do, my bedroom is very cluttered...
Anyway, I am having a very enjoyable week off work and I hope you are all ok!

:hello: Goooooood Evening fellow OS'ers
Haven't had a chance (yet) to read through our thread but nonetheless heartfelt ((hugs)) for those in need/want
What a day!!! College was an R's (pardon me french) ended up leaving slightly earlier than planned - head wasn't in it
The lads' Dad came this afternoon and managed to successfully erect some erections in d11yo'd room, more to be done tomorrow! I absented myself by closing the lounge door, after carting some of the boxes upstairs, and then - shamefully - did it again (!) fell asleep (wot on earth is going on with me bod!!????)
Then it was a case of "tackle the neighbours" over their balls - not pleasant!
Then, lo and behold, one of my contacts came up with a FREE bed for my other friend-without ... made the call to tell 'S' that I have a free bed for her ... her response? "Yes, but!!!!" Aarrrgghhhh!!!!! (Deep breaths, Q! Remember, man can't put in what God left out!) In short, she doesn't want the bed (despite telling us she needed one!) Now, I was brought up, "beggars can't be choosers". That's not to imply she's a beggar!!!! However, this bed is almost new, nowt wrong wiv it, and for someone who spends their evenings on a garden chair, I'm wondering if it's my head that's on squiffy? Personally, having been homeless/penniless - had someone offered me a bed I couldn't utilise, I would still have been so very grateful that someone had cared enough to think of me; I would have accepted it - even if it meant selling it on (perish the thought!) and used the money to buy what I did need.
Now I'm left with a bit of a dilema. I know she needs a bed/wardrobe/lounge suite ... but, I'm now wondering if I should offer anything in future?? I don't want to sound mean or owt, but, I'm wondering if anything will be good enough? Do I still offer when I hear of anything? Or do I just simply put it down to experience?I don't want to sound like a meanie beanie, but hey, if she can "afford" to be so "choosey" over a nearly new bed, just how "new" does she want things to be????
Oooh I must have a hormonal head on
On that note .... confession's of a guilt-free Queenie  With all else going on a commited the cardinal sin of ordering a Pizza Hut take away tonight ...
.. it was absolutely GREAT!!! :T :T :T :T Okay, couldn't eat it on a regular basis, but my oh my how deliciouse can a meat feast be!!!??? ? :rotfl: *drools, unashamedly, down pinny*OK, Ok, ok!!! I'll eat double veggie tomorrow to make up for it, but it was bl%dy luverly after a stressful day  (my excuse and I'm sticking to it
)
On the home front, nets all laundered .. and ... er ..... nets all laundered!Permission to whip me with a soggy cucumber for being a recalcitrant OS
 Who cares!? Stressful day due to end when my weary head hits the pillow. Tomorrow is another day (halo squiffy til then)
:rotfl:

Hello
Just arrived back to homebase. Had a great visit with Twink & Kyle. They are really lovely and we could of chatted all day. I thought we were heading straight back but DH did the scenic route and we ended up taking the chair lift thingy up Ben Nevis. Then got off and walked up the end of the mountain It was a great view except for the freezing winds.
Went through Loch Ness and I saw the monster again.DH missed it  again.
Think I will hit the sack. Will read the thread properly tomorrow. Hope you've all had a great day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
hello all
mioliere dont use too much lavender, gave dgs1 too much once and he couldnt sleep, aussielass brought some lavender oil for kyle, in case i had used it all
Thanks TWINK - I think I overdosed on it last night because I had such a scary dream and a restless night! I'll just stick to a couple of drops on the pillow from now on!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Kathy - don't write off the negative dreams simply as a result of the lavender ... you have much going on in your world right now, even though much of it is beautifully positive, the mind will also make negatives come to the fore - such is life! While I agree that too much essential oil can be detrimental, take all things in equal measure my friend
Like anything, our bodies will aclimatise to everything, so personally, lavender is used as an occasional measure rather than an every day resort; otherwise, it counteracts the benefits. Have you equally considered a hop pillow (now that is very OS  )? Maybe a combo of tricks which are alternated would be beneficially without going into over kill/dose?Just thinking out loud

Evening all...Haribo, congratulations on the ironing...there could be a double decker bus under mine its been so long since I've seen the bottom of the basket!
Annie, I am fortunate enough to share a house near Alghero (north west) with my brother, he hardly uses it anymore so me and mine take full advantage...OH and I go about twice a year, it used to mean flying Dublin/Stansted and then Stansted/Alghero but now there are direct flights from Dublin which will be so convenient...this is our first trip since they started.
Yes, Sardinia is beautiful. I haven't been on the southern coast yet...maybe this trip. I wouldn't have thought that it is very expensive for UK residents as the £ is quite good against the € at present and flights are quite cheap from Stansted, courtesy of Ryanair. It is also possible to book car, hotel or b&B on internet...I've never been on a package holiday so that is the way I always operate wherever we are going but I have friends who couldn't face the idea of a holiday without a guide so I suppose its whatever you fancy really.
Rchddap1, so glad that your little lady is doing so well...its nice to get the reassurance, isn't it.
Mrs Mix...sounds like a very sore injury, hope DS recovers soon.
Trigger...I hate ear infections, they are so painful...hope that all is well before your holiday. Sorry to hear about your nan, its not always nice getting old.
Rzl...that is some technology you have there...don't break it whatever you do!
Queenie...apparently when you sleep like that it is because your body needs the rest, so just enjoy. Understand your dilemma about the bed and whether or not to offer anything else that comes your way...some people have difficulty accepting things and become awkward and apparently ungrateful...so maybe don't offer anything for a while, just mention that you have heard of somebody giving away whatever and leave the ball in your friend's court to accept or not (?)
Aussielass, welcome home...glad to hear that Nessie is alive and well
May not get on daily to-morrow as there seem to be lots of things I still have to do...I am usually able to get ready in 10 minutes flat, must be getting old!
Take care, one and all, be back 15th June
