    Morning everyone!

    <<PenPen>> sorry about the chicks

New washing line arrived yesterday. DH decided to dig a hole to concrete it in, and it was ready to use last night. I had to restarin myself from putting some washing on a quick wash, just to try it! How sad is that? It's not even that different to my old washing line! I'm waiting for the first load this morning to finish so I can hang it out before I go out.

New ceiling fan blades have arrived, so will be off to collect them later, and will also go to the gym en route. DH is working away today.

Will be making cottage pie for dinner tonight, and I WILL get round to makin some batches of soup for the freezer.

Yesterday's fish was horrible. The fishmonger didn't have any plaice, and he recommended some other white fish I'd never heard of (begins with P, not pollock). The batter was beautiful as always, but the fish was really...squidgy and horrible. Never mind. I might try lemon sole goujons next. DH suggested trying fish without batter, but I've already done that with a few fish and it really didn't help.

Plan on doing NO housework today, apart from a quick tidy through. Spent ages sitting in the garden reading yesterday. MIght do a bit more of that today, still looks too hot to dig up and resite the hedge.

Right, better get on. Will pop back later and catch up on the news.

Morning everyone, and it’s a lovely one here. OH has to go to the hospital this morning, so getting a lift to the shopping centre to collect scripts and have a quick look in Bon Marche…………….OH is Secretary of his Bowling Club and also will be president next year so there are going to be quite a few dinners etc we will be invited to………..so I need to look for some new duds…………I hate buying clothes can never find anything to fit and always end up having to alter them in some way.

B & Q after lunch to get the cupboards and also a shower fitting for the bath taps….at last after 8 weeks we might just about get straight and I will get the bookcase out of the hall and onto my sewing table where it belongs and I can start sewing again.(At the moment it has stuff from the kitchen cupboards on it.)

Right coffee calls and then we have to shoot off……………see y’all later……….

Hi all – beautiful morning here but, boy, did I have a bad night’s sleep. Had the most awful dream that some murderers who were on the run decided to invade our house and kept us prisoner! Sounds funny now but, in the middle of the night, I woke up so scared. Must have woken up loads of times and each time with that awful doomed feeling. Was so relieved to wake up finally to some sunshine and a cuppa from DH, but, I’d had so little sleep that I woke up later than usual and now I feel all behind.
Have had a shower, had breakfast, cleaned the bathroom, loos, etc. and tidied upstairs, put some washing on and walked up the shops for the paper and some milk. Need to put the washing on the line (enjoy yours, DANNA!) then make some of QUEENIE’S Jam Crumblies , another yoghurt cake and the malt loaf recipe I found on here somewhere. Vistors at the weekend ate all the cakes I made on Saturday!
AMIE – well done on giving blood!
TRIGGER – hope your granny gets the care she needs and (((hugs))) to her and your two Los – hope they’re all better soon.
SMOKYBABE – hope you sort your computer out – that would drive me mad!
TINKERBELLUK – hope you manage to sort things out
CRAZY – so sorry about the hamster. They don’t live very long, do they? Enjoyed reading about the flour babies – good idea!
PENPIN – most stuff is cheaper in France; when I go next week, I will stock up on bread flour. I have friends there who say the French flour is so much better than ours. I always buy Olive Oil, soap (Savon de Marseilles which is wonderful), jam, chocolate (the supermarkets’ own brands are really good), cakes and biscuits, any fruit and veg that will keep, the same with meat – their meat is beautiful, the pork is something the French are very proud of because it is milk-fed and delicious; wine (obviously!), beer – I’m still trying to think. I usually come back loaded up so, if I think of anything else, I’ll try and let you know before you go!
DANNAHAZ – sorry you didn’t enjoy the fish. Have you tried trout, mackerel, sardines, kippers or haddock – smoked or unsmoked? They are all really tasty; I rarely do mine in batter – if I do, I end up taking the fish out of it anyway!
Well, I didn’t watch Whistleblower last night but have it recorded – will try and watch it later. DH was late finishing work so that had a knock-on effect for the rest of the evening but hope to relax properly tonight.
Have a great day and will pop in again later!

It was so sunny this morning - I exerted myself and put a dress on!:rotfl: (I usually live and die in trousers) gave DH a nice shock! - So it will probably cloud over now Ive got my legs out!!!:rotfl:

"Another one bites the dust" :rotfl: and Wolf, Trojan, Hunter etc !

I planted some strawberry plants in a tub last nite, so hope they grow ok - quite hopeful after reading Chipps/Pink-wingeds Posts!;)
Got a couple of frogs in the garden, they like to sit in the reedy type plant ive got which happens to be near the switch for the water feature & lights - and they always move and make me jump!!:rotfl: have to get DH to do that now! Love the frogs - but cant be doing with the snails chomping all my plants I'm afraid (amie/snowy) I have to put the pellets down!

Was going to do Queenies variation of crumblies with mincemeat (at the moment my asda are selling it off at 17p a jar! still well in date!), but after seeing tapladys reference I might not! I quite fancy doing a lattice mincemeat tart ?? Does anyone have a recipe?? or done one??

amie - Well done on the blood! I cant give blood anymore after having crohns years ago, but DH still does, they also take the platlets for babies too
tink - I would try the counselling - yr DH might be surprised, sometimes it is easier talking to strangers/people not directly connected. Hope you sort things out soon x

    Hi again,

Penny-Pincher, strawberries are really easy to grow...they must be if I can manage it! Have a look at this thread for lots of help: advice on growing strawberries
Penelope Penguin, I'm really sorry to hear the eggs didn't hatch.
Crazychick, sorry about the hamster....I know what you mean about a pet cemetary!
Twink, Aussie and Kyle, have a lovely time today!
    Patentgirl, have a lovely holiday!
Tinkerbell, I hope you get things sorted out today.
Chipps, good to see you posting again!

I've had a busy morning. I've been down to the office, done a general tidy through the house, cleaned the bathroom, made the bread and done the washing. It's overcast outside but still dry so hoping to get into the garden this afternoon.

I'm thinking about booking this year's holiday but not sure whether or not I want to. Dd (17 next month) doesn't want to come which is understandable at her age, but I'm not sure that I want to go without her. On the other hand why should the boys not get a holiday because she wants to stay at home? Why do children have to grow up!

Off to have a surf and then out to the garden if the rain holds off.

    Good afternoon all,

The friend I was to meet today had to cancel as her little girl is sick...was a bit relieved when I heard as I have so much to do before Sardinia on Friday...but have spent most of my morning on here instead...the wm is on and the dw emptied so I am just going to do the essential ironing and something with bacon for dinner...made lots of bread yesterday so shouldnt need to make any more before I go, DD4 who will be here with DGS2 for two weeks doesn't eat much bread and will cook for them both...lots of stuff in freezer and cupboards which she can use, not sure how much time she will spend here as she is free until she starts her eight week summer job on 2nd July..

Crazychick and PenPen, sorry about animal problems.

Patentgirl, enjoy Canada, I have never been but have several friends and relatives there so would like to do it sometime...OH would rather visit US as he spent ten years there is his youth and has a brother and sister in New England...I'm not keen on US, so we agree not to go that way at all!

Shez, you should have very little trouble with strawberries just give them lots of water, but make sure that they have good drainage. DD4 has about 20 plants and we are hoping for a good harvest. Several years ago I bought seeds of Alpine strawberries which fruit very well although the fruit is very small..but sweet. Trouble is the b****y things selfseed all over the place but nice to find a handful of sweet fruit when you are deadheading on a summer evening!
Oh is very difficult on the subject of weedkilling...obliterate them with chemicals would be his way...so I have trouble every year with putting him off...the bane of his life is scutch grass (think you call is couch grass in UK) which is resistant to everything, I just keep digging it out and that seems to work best of all.

Hugs to all in need or wanting one.

Colder here to-day, but windy so hopefully clothes will at least damp-dry outside
