    Good morning all!:hello:

Well, managed to catch some of the whistleblowers programme last night (newster, our prayer meeting was yesterday evening - hence missing the beginning of the prog). It's quite horrifying, to see what goes on. I expect sharp practice has always gone on though - I remember learning as a child that in the past they used to add all sorts of things to flour to bulk it out, & also disguise rancid meat to sell. Did we think we had advanced since the middle ages????!!!!
We prefer to buy our meat from a farm not too far away, which is the local (place where the animals go from being cows to beef etc) so there is not much scope for the meat to get to be old. It even works out cheaper than the supermarkets, and is a pleasant drive through our beautiful countryside to get there. We go every so often and do a bulk buy for the freezer.

Well, today DS has got to do some "school" (home ed) work, as he has had a couple of days with his friend from Suffolk. So I shall be chasing him to get on!

Also it is green bin day, so recycling to put out. Need to pay car insurance and buildings insurance, too. We put some money away into a savings account each month, so that's ok. A couple of years ago we got stuck for money & I stopped doing that - it was horrendous when the bills came in:eek: so I am always very careful to make that one of our priorities each month - to put the savings money out of sight in a passbook account, so I can't get at it from cash machines!

Have a good day all of you!

    Good Morning All

I went to feed the hamsters last night, and sadly DS's hamster was dead. she was fine when I left for work in the morning. So she must have passed away in the day! Obviously, he's upset. My garden will be like a pet cemetary soon!

Ive ordered a repeat prescription on-line, for the pain killers I use for my back. This is something Ive never done before, I had a confirmation email to say that its being processed. Im hoping that means I'll be able to get my tablets without the hassle of getting a telephone consultation.

DS's is doing the next stage of sex education at school, they've done the hormone stuff, now its about the "real" thing and babies! All Yr6 kids have been given a bag of flour - hence why they've called it "flour babies" - they have to dress/decorate it, and basically treat it like a baby, Ive heard some parents go to the extreme of waking the kids up in the night to imaginary feed the baby. Some have charged for baby sitting. Some kids even take it to school in pushchairs/prams. DS went out to play, and managed to bribe DD into watching his flour baby for him. Saying that he'll be nice to her for 2weeks, she can have 2wks worth of playing on his psp, and also going into his room! DD soon got bored and she went off out to play! His being nice attitude lasted less than 2hrs! I know they have to take this matter serious, but its funny when I have to shout DS in, from the window to tell him to fetch the baby!

My brother's passport arrived yesterday at the same time as his American Visa, they are now in the process of slowly house clearing etc. SIL will go first to set things up, he will follow once the loose ends here are finalised. He has a job to walk into allready once he gets to Florida. But in the meantime will have to live with the in-laws.

Charlie is so used to being out & finds his way home great! I have no worries about him!

Ive decided for the wk end, I will wait until exOH fetches the kids, then once they're gone out of sight, myself & OH are off to London. If there is a problem, he will have to deal with it. Just like I have to on a daily basis! Harsh - I know, but I need some me time and quality time with OH! I still daren't book the coach untill I know for sure! Animal sitters are on standby!

My nephew (who moved to Spain last month) has added me to buddy list on hotmail msn. Ive not heard from him since he's moved, so Im hoping that Im able to catch hold of him on-line soon! I do hope he's ok!

dlb - thanks to your DH for those large daisy's he got for me. I just hope they take well in the large wooden barrel planter - where OH put them.

anniestar - phoebe sounded all comfy - on the fleece nr the fire! How is she today!

dannahaz - Ive not used the Adios version, but I have used holland & barret version of B6, I found it did help, I drunk lots of water with the tablets. And obviously that made me feel full. That was about 6yrs ago, I keep meaning to get some more to give them another go! Back then - I was a size 22 and weighed 16stone, after an attempt of cutting back on various foods, coming off the anit-dep, and occasional work out at the gym, I went down to 13stone & size 16/18. I have averaged the same size & weight over recent yrs. BUt would like to lose a bit more!

anniebooklover - my kids have been let down many of times in the past by their dad. He promises the earth - and lets them down. Its the way of life we've had to cope with. But Im sure when they're older, they will understand for themselves! He cant see that its the kids which get hurt! and for a 7yr & 11yr old, it hurts a lot. Initially - he was working this bank hol wk end, so again, I changed my plans, from having the kids - to not having them (so he could work). back to having them, and now back to not having them! They are like a ball in a tennis match! Thats why I cant ever plan anything. Dlb know's how hard I try to protect things like this from happening, she knows's my ex (sadly for her) and know's what I have to fight against!

ladygrim- loved the jokes yesterday, especially the blonde 1. :rotfl:

CAN I JUST SAY "COME ON YOU REDS" and GOOD LUCK FOR TONIGHT!

Right Im off to read the thread now
    Bye for now

    Morning everyone

PenPen Sorry to hear about the chicks x

Have a house viewing today, need to go to parcel office to pick up recorded delivery, post more eBay/Amazon parcels (yay - sales!) and then... hopefully, out in the garden for a little while. Our lawnmower died (after 5 and a half years) yesterday. We splashed out on a petrol one and are both very excited. Is that really sad? :D

Some kind of tuna/noodles thing for dinner (that has been on meal plan for weeks and haven't quite got around to doing :o)

Hugs to anyone who needs one x

    Morning Guys!

Think I overdid it yesterday:o ...feel crap again but nevermind!

DW will be put on later, WM is on and toilet cleaned.

I have cooked a chicken curry this morning for baked spuds to freeze as OH did a freezer inventory yesterday and had 3 breasts to use up. It will do about 6 portions as I paded out with a tin of toms, onion, tin of baked beans and veggies:D ...smells delish but too early even for me for curry:p

DD has had a bad attitude over the past 2 days and I swear Im going to thump her if she carries on! I am quite a patient person normally but she is really testing me ATM.

I ordered a potato peeler for my Kenwood yesterday and came this morning. It peels spuds and root/hard veggies. Thought it would be easier for me as I cant use a peeler or knife with my hands.

Debating whether to buy some strawberry plants and gooseberry plants...are they easy to keep alive? We already have spuds in full bloom but wont be ready till late summer after the leaves have started to die off.

We are off to Calais next Wednesday for the day and was wondering if anyone knew what cheap items I can get over there:confused: ..there is a local market on with fruit/veg/cheese/hams/chutneys etc so that shoudl be nice.

Anyway, I have to go and have some breakie.

    Hugs

    PP

    Morning all :)

Hugs to everyone that needs them and those that don't just because I'm feeling huggy today :p

Smokybabe Couple of thoughts re your keyboard/mouse problem, could it be either of these things, both have been a problem for me in the past... Omitted to install the software that came with the K&M? Or if it's one of those wireless K&M jobbies then it could be the batteries need replacing, I ditched my wireless ones for that reason the batteries never seemed to last long. I now have a loverly infrared one :)

PP & Crazychik Sorry to hear about your sad animal news, better luck next time PP and CC will DS be getting a new hammy? Thanks for the flour child laugh Crazychik, a whole new take on cabbage patch dolls lol! I didn't realise they did stuff like this at schools these days.

We are off to Calais next Wednesday for the day and was wondering if anyone knew what cheap items I can get over there ..there is a local market on with fruit/veg/cheese/hams/chutneys etc so that shoudl be nice.
No idea, never been, I'll volunteer to come help you look though, you'll need a remote camera though as I don't think I could actually get past the garden gate let alone Calais, enjoy it for me won't you :)

I slept like pooh last night could have something to do with my snoring Eeyore of a DH :D he doesn't snore often but when he does he can wake the dead! I have a fuzzy, muggy head today and can't stop yawning. DH went to work with sandwiches I made last night and stored in the fridge :D big thanks to Queenie and Mioliere for the tips, I clattered in the kitchen whilst he was in the bathroom so he thought that I was making them fresh, he figures that sarnies stored in the fridge will taste stale once he gets them to work, will give him a few days and see if he tells the difference then confess :D

The knicker drawer is now sorted and I also managed to sort a big pile of books out for Amazon, so will begin listing them later, got some work to do first and need to get some chores done. Have to get the parcel of goodies I wrapped yesterday for my friend and her new baby taken to the PO by DH. He asked me if I fancied going out to the garden centre this weekend  part of me wants to but part of me is scared I'll get all panicy again and ruin the day. I so feel sorry for my DH he's really trying to help, guess only person that can help me is ummm me!

The batch cook went well got 4 lasagnes and tea of a spag bol last night from one pack of mince :D , I'm really taking to this OS money saving lifestyle, 4 days left of the current budget and I can show DH how much I've saved. To go with the spag bol I also made a quick pudding with storecupboard stuff and some left over HM chocolate orange cake, I layered the cake with some tinned mandarins with a little sprinkle of sherry on the cake as well alternated the layers with a carton of low fat custard and topped off with whipped cream and choccy sprinkles. It was yummy if I say so myself :) Today I want to make some egg custards, have everything in but need a foolproof recipe, when I've tried in the past (even if I bake the pastry blind) the custard never stays in the pastry cases, dunno what I'm doing wrong! Anybody got any suggestions???

Seems to be a lot of gardeners around these parts, someone mentioned having a photo gallery, I'd love to see other peoples gardens and would be happy to share mine. I'm all excited because I've just noticed that a liquorice seedling has emerged and I have a shed load of carrot seedlings. Just need DH to finish putting up the greenhouse (was given it by a relative bcause they were going to throw it out because the had no use for it  ) it's to late to grow my own toms this year but I will be able to overwinter some of my more tender herbs. A friend gave me a cardomon plant recently and I want to get a few more 'exotic' herbs may even have a go at growing a few ginger plants. Need to get some more weeding done and water the pots later, anyway better go do stuff, nice chatting to everyone, hope you have a super day, whatever you do and whatever the weather.

PenPen & Crazychik - Sorry to hear about your animals

Hope everyone else is ok, hug to those who need/want one.

I too watched the Whistleblower programme last night, what stood out the most to me was the ignorance of some staff, the lack of care shown by them, my Mam works on a Deli in Sainsburys and they are very very strict, I know she wouldn't even consider putting someone elses health at risk and neither would the others. People there have been sacked for breaking even the smallest of food handling procedures. I am sure people are more 'grown up' and realise these bad pennies are not in every store, hoping my Mam and her colleagues don't get any backlash because of this programme.

Anyway. What I had planned to do today was loads of washing, until a not from water company saying we won't have any water today dropped through the letter box.

I have to write a letter today to apply for my son a place at the local SEN school. He's not coping at school and they aren't coping with him. Fingers crossed they don't argue with it (don't particularly like LEA lady for my area!! Wicked Witch she's usually referred to as)

Hope everyone has a good day, think might travel down to Darlington today as need some things for my lizard, local pet shop has tried and failed at ordering what I need so will have to go to the specialists.
One day I might be more organised...........

Debating whether to buy some strawberry plants and gooseberry plants...are they easy to keep alive?

Hi, we never had any luck with gooseberries - the leaves kept getting eaten by gooseberry sawfly bugs, and we never managed to catch them in time!
But strawberries - no problem! I have planted a window box with strawberry plants this year, and they look really healthy. DS & I saw a strawberry that is beginning to go red yesterday - I think it will be a battle as to who gets to it first when it is ripe!!!!:D
