Hi everyone. :hello:
So sorry about the chicks PenPen and hope the kids aren't to upset re the hamster Crazychik.
Pink...........I think you'll find that you were the one who called to tell me how many strawberries you had. Of course I had to defend myself and have a count and the only reason I have 40 fewer than you is that you have 4 more plants than me. So there.
:rotfl:
I'm starting to get into a bit of a routine now and am going into the office with OH at 9 and finishing at 1pm so getting lots of work done.
I gave him a stern talking to re helping me with the housework if I am helping him with the business so last night he made tea, emptied the DW, cleaned the kitchen, washed the floor and made the packed lunches.
Yesterday at the office I was passing him nasty notes with my list of complaints so I think he wanted to avoid a repeat of that today. Funny thing is I was writing the notes on heart shaped post its so I'm sure the other guy who sits opposite thought we were exchanging love notes. :rotfl:
And Pink |I would rather you refrained from referring to me and OH as George and Mildred.
FIL coming for tea tonight so I'm making haggis stuffed mushroom in whisky cream sauce to start, then roast wild garlic chicken with mashed spuds, red cabbage, runner beans and carrots.
Other than that not much else tonight. Double episode of Desperate Housewives tonight. :j :T
Enjoy the rest of you day.
Haribo x
Oh I nearly forgot.
I DID ALL MY IRONING AND PUT IT ALL AWAY! :j0 -
Last night I made OH a curry with a cheap can of sauce (I know sorry) I found in Tescos, and some left over chicken. He took one bite and then looked at me saying something along the lines of "cor blimey this is hot". After questioning if I'd finally found something too hot he gave me a 'don't be silly look' and finished the lot. He then laid himself out like a beeched whale patting him tummy.
The hospital trip today was successful. They are happy with her progress and the doc kept going on about how sociable she is...hardly a suprise really when she meets so many different people...who smile and her, so she can smile back. She was so wriggly, jumpy, chatty and happy...cue one proud mummy. The doc checked her heart...and then tried to get her to sit up (which she can't do yet)...which failed. After noting she wasn't too stable (hardly a surprise as she was acting as if she'd been fed some looney pills) she put her on her tummy. THere's always a sheet of paper on a roll on the bed...and she grabbed it. Once sat up again she kept hold of it and began to tear it into little bits. Cue an extra proud mummy with a big grin on her face.
Doc then did something silly. She stood her up. Yes she stood a looney 6 month old on her feet. Baby then started jumping and throwing herself all over the place. Found it hard to control myself, but everyone had a big smile on their face. She was such a happy little soul.
We're being referred to an eye specialist for that weird / dodgy eye...and she's also sending us to another set of developmental bods (on top of the physio people). She wasn't sure if the developmental bunch are necessary, but better to be cautious.
Won't see the doc for 3 months...unless something goes wrong. Doc was very happy. However, she hasn't see baby's original CT & MRI scans yet. They still haven't sent a copy. We know that they were very bad because of the way the doctors at Bristol Childrens & our old local hostpital (when they got the scans) treated us. the local one espeically especially....the doctor's manner changed and I realised they'd seen the scans and thought...ahhh poor thing. No idea when we're going to get a second scan. The longer they can leave it the better the results they'll get (for finding out what she may face in the future).
When I got home I put her straight to bed (about lunch time) and haven't had a peep from her since.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
Morning all.
Does anyone know the dates for half term oct 08???
xx
Hi dlb
There's a first time for everything I know, so don't book a holiday on my info alone - but if it helps at all my DD2 has her birthday on 27th October and she has NEVER had to go to school on her birthday as it's always been in half term....:j
DD1 birthday was always in Christmas hols, and DS2 birthday always in Summer hols....poor DS1 has November birthday though and even now at aged 28 gets cross at the thought of being the only one who had to go to school on his birthday!People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

Afternoon all! Thought I was having the rest of the day at home but DH needed some banking doing so I had to pop out; still, I bought some more printer paper while I was out and a lovely huge soft cuddly lamb in Tchibo’s for £8.99. It looks just like the real thing – DS2’s GF loves sheep and lambs so I’m putting it away for Christmas.
PATENTGIRL – have a great time in Canada! I’ve never been but have relatives there who love it. I know what you mean about the build up to going away. I hate it – when we go to France next week, it will be the first time I’ve been able to leave the house empty for ages now that DS2 has left home! He always kept it reasonably nice but didn’t notice the kitchen floor needed sweeping now and again or that the bath needed cleaning out! I always used to fill the freezer and fridge up with food and leave plenty of notes about re-heating etc. – I think I spent more time organising for him staying at home than us going away!
HARIBO – I well remember having to have THE TALK with my DH re helping round the house when I’m working with him! We both used to come home quite worn out and he’d be the one sitting on the sofa yawning and scratching while I rushed around cooking, getting the washing in, making next day’s sandwiches, etc. Once I’d explained to him, the light sort of went on in his head and he said ‘It’s not fair, is it? I didn’t realise’. Anyway, he’s quite good now that I’ve been training him for nearly twenty-nine years! He always cleans my car, does the windows and runs my bath at night and, since I let him choose the iron when our old one broke, he’s quite happy to do the ironing as well! He chose a ‘digital’ (?) iron that looks more like a flash trainer and, because it’s so macho, he’ll use it. He’s also brilliant at cleaning the floor and not so brilliant at pegging out the washing. His idea of drying socks is to tie them on the line in a knot!
RCHDDAP1 – great news about LO – she sounds really special! Give her a big (((hug))) from me! Glad the hospital visit went well!
SHEZ – I’ve worn a dress for the last two days even though I’ve ‘just’ been doing the housework. I did try to wear proper heels with it like a 1950s doting wife but I couldn’t keep that up so had to go back to low sandals around the house.
Well, a couple of hours to myself now, I think. I made Jam Crumblies (QUEENIE – they’re SO moreish!), a malt loaf which I haven’t tried yet and a yoghurt cake with cherry flavour yoghurt, apricots and cranberries which I have tried and tastes yummy. Dinner tonight is a quick easy one again because I have lots of paperwork and bookkeeping to do for DH so we’re having some of QUEENIE’S (she gets in all our kitchens, doesn’t she?!) meatloaf with salad and potato wedges and I’ve bought a pineapple for pud.
It’s so warm here today; we have a few clouds but it’s mainly bright and sunny and I’ve got a load of washing dry again. I think this weather is meant to last about three days this time – be great if it lasted for weeks again like last time.
Well, I’m going to go now and get stuck into the bookkeeping – yawn, boring!
Will drop by later. Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

Went to the residents meeting, the suggestion that we clear up the garden was well recieved................so I guess sometime next week we will be setting to with rake and shovel.....it was quite a good meeting all things considered.
Went to B & Q and collected the cupboards for the kitchen, the bath taps we wanted are out of stock so they will have to wait for another week......
Just had chicken with rice for supper, had a small bot of vienetta in the freezer, we divided it into two and ate it, so something else out of the freezer.
Going to watch the double helping of Chelsea tonight........wish I was there in oerson, but its too expensive these days, plus we would have to stay overnight in London...........

Just been catching up with today's thread. Lots happening to lots of people.
Shez FTN have been showing Gladiators at 7.00pm for a while now. Its a regular in our house now as DD thinks Hunter is gorgeous and DS quite likes Lightning and Jet. It's hilarious looking back at what was then very trendy outfits, hairdos and make-up. :rotfl:
meanmarie where are you going in Sardinia? I stayed at the Forte Holiday Village in Santa Margherita di Pula in the south of the island. I loved the resort but couldn't afford to go now - its just too expensive. (Just googled it and apparently its been voted the "World's Leading Holiday Centre" for the 8th year in a row.) An old bf offered to treat me to the holiday if I would get my own spending money. That was absolutely no problem! In fact I won my spending money on my first ever visit to a casino. I bet £20 and won £500 over the night. :j :j I hope you have a lovely time. Sardinia is a lovely island.
Oooh forgot to mention that when we were there we met a lovely man from the Bahamas, who told us he was learning the ropes in the hotel business. Turns out his dad was only the Prime Minister of the Bahamas and had bought him an hotel as a 21st birthday present! When we got back there was some news in The Times about his father being investigated for fraud or bribery or some naughty thing. Wonder how he bought the hotel?????
mrs mix hope your poor DS is better soon. ((hugs)) You really are having a time of it right now, aren't you?
rchddap1 your story brought back memories of when my DD went for one of the many, many check-ups they have when they are babies. The doc did the usual tests then did the one you described, where they stand the baby on their feet. Babies of around 6 months should do what your beautiful DD did, they should jump around. My DD just stood there. The doc looked really puzzled then told me that babies shouldn't be able to stand at that age. I figure that DD didn't want to sit as she could see far better when she was standing up. :rolleyes:She is still a nosy madam btw.
Does anyone know where Patentgirl was going in Canada? I would love to visit Canada but need to save many, many pennies first. If she manages to read this - have a fabulous time and tell us all about it when you get back.
kyle, twink and aussie hope you had a lovely day together.
Going to make some tea and have a scone. Good luck to Liverpool tonight. x"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."
