Vent - Vue Cinema allocated seating
Comments

The only time I use my allocated seating is when it's busy.
Otherwise I just park myself in my preferred seats, as do most other people when there's not so many people in.
Although the cashiers do tend to look at bit baffled when they ask front, middle or back, and get the reply back of the middle or front of the back.
It's not just Vue, Empire are now doing allocated seating as well. Made me smile last week when there were only 4 of us in there. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Did that the other day to see Star Trek at Brum's IMAX. Very impressed with Cineworld and the online booking. Allowed me to choose a prime seat (middle middle) and good job too as it was packed. It was also £2 cheaper than my local Odeon.
Also, they didn't bat an eyelid when I wandered in with a Tesco carrier bag (with a Coke and bag of Minstrels in it). I had checked their food policy beforehand so I knew I'd be fine - I guess it didn't look like 'hot food'.0 -

Bloody hell, I remember back when the vue cinema I used to go to was warner bros, smuggling in food was like a military operation, had to make sure someone went with a baggy jacket and lots of pockets. You actually started sweating walking past the ticket ripper, and when you made it into the screen it was just like you'd won WW3.0 -
A couple of times we have been to Vue cinemas with allocated seating and there's been no-one else in there, it seems pointless!
One time they even asked us if we wanted to upgrade to the VIP seats for extra and we said no but sat in them anyway!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
VUE has been !!!!! ever since it became VUE. That said, I've never had allocated seating. I did used to work at a VUE and didn't enjoy it one bit. I also rarely ever go to the cinema due to the price and have never ever bought food there.0

For those that are interested this is what Vue emailed back with. It appears they are more interested in larger groups or those people who don't want to sit through the trailers!
"
Please be advised that allocated seating has now been introduced to all Vue Cinemas as we fell this is more convenient for the majority of guests based upon customer feedback. Allocated seating is also beneficial for the guests who pre booked tickets who are unable to get to the cinema early enough and for large group bookings as this ensures they are all guaranteed a seat next to each other.
We apologise for any disappointment this may have caused and we will ensure your comments are passed on to the relevant parties for future consideration.
When booking tickets at the cinema you can request particular seats so please be assured that if you know the seat row and number you like, please request this and the member of staff will be happy to seat you there should those seats be free."This is a system account and does not represent a real person. We went to see Ironman 3 last week (using Orange Wednesday) at our nearest Vue cinema. That was the first time I encountered allocated seating at this venue.
The nearest Odeon cinema has had allocated seating for years. One of the reasons I preferred Vue was the non-allocated seating. But I'd still prefer Vue because their seats are more comfortable than Odeon's.0 -
I would never ever go to a cinema with allocated seating it sounds like my idea of a nightmare. I especially hate the ones with VIP seating. Went to the cinema at the Trafford centre once and didn't pay for VIP seating, the only peasant seats left were right at the front so you had to crane your neck, it was awful. I have a Cineworld unlimited card and it's great. Well worth the money, go in sit wherever you want. If they introduce allocated seating I'd cancel it.0

Funny everyone saying odeon has allocated seats, I just checked our local odeon for star trek and there's no allocation, not even an option to choose VIP?!0

I think our Odeon allocates seats for the busy periods, aka evenings and weekends but the first showings of the day are dead and you can sit where you want.
People ask me how I can bear to work weekends and evenings. There's a reason! It's brilliant being able to watch films on the opening day with no peasants on their phones or stuffing their fat faces with crunchy food.'til the end of the line0
