Another disappointment from Vue. First of all we used to go every Tuesday evening (and we went to be sociable to each other, so we could share something, have a chat about it afterwards, and a cup of tea before).

Now the films are awful (not Vue's fault, I guess), but are far too loud, we take ear plugs! We have complained, but had a huge runaround and denial of responsibility (not our fault, guv), then they brought in the VIP seats, so that there was a gap of two empty rows thus putting pressure on the standard.

Seat prices have risen and risen, and now allocated seating. It's not just the phone users, but also the "pigs at the trough" - can you really not go for two hours without eating - paper rustling, and even one couple who brought in fish and chips. It's a horrible experience now.

So we no longer go. The really super films will still get an audience, but otherwise the Vue business model will surely see them going out of business sooner rather than later. And bear in mind I had to drive 11 miles to get to them. Very foolish.

I haven't been to the cinema in a while, but one of the occasions I remember going with allocated seating, I got into the screen to find a man sat in my seat. We both had tickets for that seat. I had to trudge back to the booking area to ask them whether they planned for me to sit on his lap! They were very good about it, but I want a cinema not a dating service :D

Vue have actually replied to my complaint very quickly. True the response basically says get stuffed, but still they replied within 12 hours!

Apparently its down to "customer feedback".

Protest with your wallet and don't go back.

On another note, we have a locally run cinema. The seats are a little uncomfortable, but it's only £3.50 on Sundays and Mondays, and they don't mind you bringing your own sweets/drinks in etc. Brought a bottle of red in last time :p

Certainly beats £15+ per person (Ticket, drink and snack) at a regular cinema.

Yes I'm not going back. I'll stick with the AMC or odeon in manchester which are cheaper and don't offer allocated seating!

Best avoid Odeon as well as they also have allocated seating

Not the ones I know. :)

^ A friend likes allocated seating (and at the cinema he uses it is always allocated) because he's found a seat that he loves, for distance from screen, sound, access, etc.

Personally, I prefer to choose when I enter, but I always expect cinemas to allocate seats if they are expecting a busy showing.

Is your friend Sheldon Cooper, by any chance?

Ha! No, but at times he can be just as obsessive.
