What you haven’t mentioned is that anyone with Sky sports will lose the service via BT Vision if they can’t get Infinity.

    http://www.a516digital.com/2013/01/sky-sports-via-dtt-faces-axe-as-bt-goes.html

That old article and information from the respected poster a516 is now out of date. And the situation for BT, Sky Sports and Top Up TV is now one in flux. So everyone will just have to wait for the announcements to see what happens.

Mind you, the recent developments now mean TalkTalk, Virgin Media and Sky are now also platforms in flux too.

    Interesting times...

Confused .com ............ I am an exsisting BT infinity 2 customer with the basic TV package. But how do I apply for this "free" BT Sports offer ? I have spent hours on the BT website following routes to different options, but cannot see where I will get the package for free. will it be added auotmatically to my current package ? or am I not entitled to this free offer ?

    Any help, much appreciated !

Heres the new BT Sport FAQ's page -

How do I order BT Sport? -

You need to order BT Sport by visiting https://www.btsport.com.
  • Obviously there will be people who disagree with both these statements but my experience of Sky over many years has been brilliant. Customer services are easy to get hold of and very helpful and adding/subtracting sport etc is very easy.

BT on the other hand have terrible customer service most of which seems to be based in some far-flung country. Also if you are thinking of moving your tv across without satellite beware that a good deal of internet is not really fast enough and you will spend a lot of your evenings watching squares dancing on the screen.

For those that are really confused by all this, heres an ABC guide from the Guardian on what you will pay (including up front costs) and how you can actually get it -

Oh, and all BT Sports transactions including Sales and Customer Service are dealt with by the new UK call centers only.

Can someone clarify as BT have left me confused?

After a long conversation with BT it appears on the surface that BT Sports is free for all BT Broadband customers HOWEVER i cant watch it through my television. I will explain

I cant get infinity in my area. So i am limited to BT Broadband
because of this we can only view on our laptop or iphone but not our tv.
I can opt for BT Vision box which i can view it through but only after launch (date to be confirmed.)
If i opt for a youview box at sign up in my opinion better than a bt vision box (both free on sign up with bt) i cannot watch bt sports as it will only be available on bt vision boxes!!

Can anyone clarify this?? Please as this does not make sense. I have 7mps broadband and want a youview box from bt and free sports. ???
Many Thanks and look forward to clarification as it will help others who cannot get fibre in their area

Are you sure you actually get 7mbps. If you get much lower - ours says up to 20mb and websites say 4.5 but we are lucky if we actually get 1.5-2.

If you do not really get a decent speed (and reliable one too) then watching tv will be a very frustrating affair. Personally i wouldn't touch it without infinity and not all areas have that.

That is interesting as a friend of mine phoned BT customer services regarding their poor tv feed on Tuesday (14.5.13) and got a non-uk call centre. You may well get a UK when they are selling but do you really get one when you need help after having paid your money??

I had everything with sky and it cost me £75 a month. This included unlimited broadband, line rental, sky talk free time, all tv channels except for movies, HD and one lot of multi-room. I have just cancelled my ESPN which was an extra £10 a month so was £85.

We really wanted BT sport as we are a football mad house so looked into how much it would be. To add it to our sky deal I would be £12 a month but if I transferred my phone line and broadband to BT. I would get it free for 12 months. I couldn't transfer any tv as I was locked in until October due to getting loyalty discount so I compared the rest. My broadband unlimited, sky talk free time, line rental and BT sport with HD would cost £41 a month with sky. With BT, unlimited broadband, BT's equivalent to sky talk free time, line rental and BT sport with HD would cost me £23.45 for the first 12 months and then £31.45 for the following 6 months as its an 18 month contract.

This is saving me over £200 a year!! (And because I did it online they are going o give me a £25 sainsburys gift card)

First of all, despite bringing it to the attention of Martyn AND his Newsdesk, MSE's story about this contains a major factual error.

She says: "What's more, you pay an additional £3/month for HD, though this is waived if you have BT's superfast Infinity broadband."

NOT SO. BT Sport (including HD) is free to all BT Broadband customers for 12 months providing they sign up before August 1. Do that and there is NO extra fee for HD.

I see some are confused by how to receive it. You will need BT's set top box system (BT vision) OR SKY satellite.

I do wish Martyn would LISTEN to people instead of just shouting them down all the time.

After recent problems with Orange broadband i was looking to change suppliers and on the back of the offer of free BT sports on my sky i decided im going to sign up with BT
My only query is that i have read that the free sky channels are only available with a 'black' sky box (which i assume means the SkyHD box) and i only have the silver sky+ box

Does anyone know for certain if i need a HD box to get the free BT Sports channels??

    Thanks
