Yeah like my edit says, that's been clarified in the last few days, the text on the main page was not like that on launch day and they are ignoring all twitter questions which don't make them instant subscribers...

This is what I'm talking about with this launch its a complete minefield and what your saying is not shown anywhere easily viewable or on the faq's or on twitter where they simple ignore any questions they haven't written in an FAQ.

I'm not sure they even know what's going on.

Edit I see bt sport have updated their web page yet again. Talk about farce.

If only I could get infinity. I'm not giving up vm cable for adsl - apologies for Getting it wrong earlier...

The 'trouble' with this launch is that it's introducing a whole new way of receiving live TV to the general public. It's not like Sky where everyone is used to the platform and the channel magically appears on the EPG.

In future when everyone has Multicast IPTV in their living rooms there won't be this mass confusion. What BT are doing here is actually a huge technological shift in the way people view TV. But there are a number of limitations as to who can actually use it, so BT are trying to 'plug the gaps' with more traditional platforms like DTT & satellite, which leads to confusion for the majority of people who don't really want to be bothered by the technical detail.

At least with Digital Switchover there was a huge public information campaign!

Let's try and simplify this as far as possible; the following excludes the cost of any pre-requisite equipment, and only refers to the sports service itself:

    • If you have or get a BT Infinity connection with at least 12 months to run on it you can watch all three channels in SD on your TV for no additional charge via a (latest generation) BT Vision+ box, a BT Youview Box, or a retail Youview box connected to your Homehub (not via WiFi). The Youview box is the preferred option for new customers. You can get HD versions of the channel for £3 a month, but BT are offering these free if you sign up or re-contract before 1st August.
    • If you do not have or cannot get a BT Infinity connection but have BT Broadband with at least 12 months to run on the contract, and any form of Sky satellite solution (including 'Freesat from Sky' - NOT 'Freesat') then you can watch all three channels in SD on your TV for no additional charge via your Satellite receiver by having them added to your account through BT (not Sky). You can get HD versions of the channel for £3 a month, but BT are offering these free if you sign up or re-contract before 1st August.
    • If you do not have or cannot get a BT Infinity connection but have BT broadband with at least 12 months to run on the contract, and live in an area where you can receive ITV4 on Freeview, then you can watch the two BT Sport channels (NOT ESPN) in SD via a BT Vision+ box (NOT Youview) and a viewing card that you will be able to order from BT for a one-off cost of £10. You do not have a HD option in this case.
    • All BT Broadband customers with at least 12 months to run on their contract, including those not covered by the above examples, can watch the BT Sport channels plus ESPN online on a PC or via a mobile App via the btsport.com website by signing in with a BT ID. A minimum connection speed of 400kbps is required.
    • The only way to watch the BT Sport & ESPN channels if you are not a BT Customer is via the Sky platform at £12 per month plus a £15 activation fee paid directly to BT.
Phew - don't think I missed any there! Hope it helps.

How? The free through BT option is on computer through the web only. To watch on your sky box is £12 a month with £15 activation fee.

It is free via $ky if you use BT broadband. Just phone BT up and NOT $ky and tell then your $ky viewing card number. If you don't use BT broadband it will be £12 per month.

Why can't BT just concentrate on trying to give us a decent service on the phone and broadband we're paying for instead of trying to compete with Sky as a tv provider?

Because Sky have for a long time been muscling in on BT's traditional phone and broadband market

If you are in an Infinity enabled area and getting 7Mbps over ADSL then your line should easily support an infinity connection!

ADSL speed is no indication of what you will get with Infinity. ADSL speed is dependent on how far you are from the telephone exchange while Infinity is dependent on how far you are away from the green street cabinet which holds the fibre equipment.

    .

What you haven’t mentioned is that anyone with Sky sports will lose the service via BT Vision if they can’t get Infinity.
