Where to hide a secret camera

Obviously i was a teenage a girl once and know full well the issues food can have. I'm also concerned that if it is my husband then he could well be making himself extremely ill eating gluten when hes not supposed to.
As i said i really wouldn't want to put locks on cupboards for more than one reason, i don't think the camera is a bad way to work out what is going on.
Ok. Do you not think that the reason for the food going missing will 'come out in the wash' as it were? Surely at some point, the reason will become apparent. I just think by using a camera and forcing the issue, it could do more harm than good.Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -

Maybe...or maybe i'll just always be wondering. I just want to get to the bottom of it before it gets too bad (by making someone ill)0 -

I have never once said it is stealing, as i have said before she has free reign over what she can eat in the kitchen (bar anything out of hubbies gluten free stash...but no one would eat that by choice anyway!), the concern i have is the amount that goes missing, the odd slice of bread here or there i can deal with, but last night 5 slices were eaten.
You seriously count the slices?????????????
What an odd family you must have.

not usually no, but i made my daughters sandwiches for school last night, went to use the hovis that was left but it was looking a little stale, so used a roll instead, so noticed there were 6 slices left in the bag, i was last in the kitchen last night and first up this morning and there was only 1 slice left0 -

Is your husband the only person with health problems? Did you say he was coeliac? I don't know too much about that illness, but wouldn't it soon become apparent if he was eating a lot of bread?
If the rest of your family are healthy, I'm not sure what health problems (apart from weight gain), it would cause them to be eating additional food.
Is your desire to use a camera more about 'getting to the bottom of it' and finding out the 'answer'?Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -

yes i think i would notice if my husband was eating alot of bread as i know how bad he reacts if he has a tiny bit of gluten.
The concern with my daughter is that if she is sleep eating what if she eats something not suitable...i read about sleep eaters eating raw sausages and all sorts0 -
In my opinion, if food is going missing and everyone is denying it, someone is lying (not a great believer in sleepwalking!) so I see no problem with setting up a secret camera, I'd probably do the same in a similar situation to prove who was doing it and to stop them lying. Yes, some of you think its unfair to spy on your family, but I agree its unfair that a family member may be stealing and lying about it.0

I'm wondering why you haven't mentioned that you have an eating disorder yourself but are happy to mention allergies. Sorry, I'm a serial lurker on the OS menu thread and fellow ex-sufferer myself with a mother who also had major food issues, so it stands out and I do think it's relevant to the way you are viewing this.
I totally agree with Gwen here.
I also freeze sliced bread for toast and sandwiches and we pull out as and when we need it, then there is never any worry about being short.0 -

I dont call that odd. If you see in the evening you only have say 7 slices you would think "ah good enough for breakfast and lunches, don't need to pop down the shop", and in the morning there arent enough for toast, then of course you're gonna notice.
I would be concerned about someone eating in the night as well, especially if I had young people/teenagers in the house, the last thing I would want would be for someone in my care to have an eating disorder or start developing an unhealthy attitude to food.
Tbh, I think a hidden camera is a better idea than just leaving it and hoping it sorts its self out (as some people on this thread seem to suggest), just because you find out who it is doesn't mean you have to confront them, it just gives you information and helps you make a decision with how to deal with it. OP, don't let people guilt you into thinking you would create an unhappy unstable atmosphere by using a camera, only you know your family and only you can judge the situation.0 -

I don't see that as odd, not everyone has endless food that can be eaten as and when, some people have to budget food and allocate food for per person, per meal etc. Maybe the OP needs to do that, I find your comment unhelpful.0
