Thank you for the remainder of your post too. It is entirely in accord with my present thinking.

I'm sure OP said it wasn't his daughter who made the 'racist' remark?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

"Apparently there was also some comment when he produced the thing along the lines of "so you'll make a good terrorist one day". An added complication is that (how can I put this in a way that I don't generate offence?) he doesn't have a particularly English sounding name."
Its actually not at all clear, I hope I'm wrong of course, but as the OP's daughter was the one targeted and shot at, I assumed she'd made the offending comment as well as taken his stuff off him.0 -
I haven't read all the replies, just the initial OP as this is something close to my heart. I and many of my friends airsoft - it's using 'bb' guns but on a site set up for it. We wear protective clothing, especially on the head and eyes and the guns are never carried in the street. The guns are only fired ingame, never for instance in the car park messing about. We even have training on making sure the guns are safe when we aren't using them.
Children should never be playing with these things in the street, this could have ended very differently if the pellet hit the lass in the eye. Airsofting/bb guns is a great sport, but so is fencing and you wouldn't walk down the street carrying a sword!
If the child is not being supervised correctly, if the child is unable to cope with feelings raised in anger or aggravation, then the child should not be playing with a gun. Tell the police and let them have a quiet word with the parents.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

Im sorry to say this but I find your presumptuous and judgemental last sentence really rather offensive. Do you know what colour my skin is? Do you know my family history and where my antecedents came from? Of course you don't and it isn't actually relevant to the case and it doesn't actually matter.

Hmm, he didn't say she did, but didn't say he didn't either. So yes, not clear at all.Did I say that it was her that made the comment?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Please tell me where a racist comment was used or where I have reported that a racist comment was used. My use of the expression was in direct response to an eyewateringly absurd stretch of the facts as I understand them from a poster here who has since decided that I am, apparently, a moron. Please see my response to that post.

Sorry, but you talk about a 'you're a terrorist' type comment aimed at someone with a 'foreign sounding name', whatever your skin colour or that of the girls in the group, that can definitely be seen as racist.
Feel free to correct me if I'm completely wrong and tell me what you were actually driving it when you mentioned this aspect.0 -
My god P_O that's a bit of a leap.
Maybe, possibly, but have you ever heard the expression 'playing the race card' used in a perfectly innocent and not even slightly racist context? I don't think I have!
Its a bit like the way 'I'm not racist but...' is always inevitably followed by something racist!0 -
I do hope the fact that your daughter wasn't blameless, OP, and might get into trouble won't deter you from reporting the boy to the Police but I suspect it will thus putting other children at risk.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
