Pet hates when travelling

Being charged a single supplement for a room and being given a single room
(It was an organised holiday with stays in ~6 hotels - all apart from 1 had a double or a twin room to myself which I can understand paying a single supplement for but a pokey little room which was smaller than my room at home was just ridiculous!!)
Getting surprised looks when other people realise you're in your 20s and are on holiday on your own - it's not a big deal (to me) to go on holiday on my own as if I don't do it by myself now I may never get to go.Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
It was only on a couple of short flights anyway, less than an hour. I just found it ironic as I was nearly first off anyway
Yep, even an hour will do it to me.
I was on a train the week before last for an hour and half, got on happily, went to get off and had to unpack my walking stick.
My travel pet hate ATM, is that I am not allowed to fly any more for the time being, Or scuba dive or free dive. o. (Never Had a desire to scuba dive but used to free dive when I was younger, and now I cannot scuba I want to!). So no real holidays. We did consider risking a short haul this year anyway, but have decided against it.

Hope you are ok xxThe Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
as a parent of two kids and who have traveled a lot from a young age, what I hate is other parents who have not prepared well, we as adults know how boring traveling can be yet some parents dont think about this at all, so dont have any activities for their kids, or bedding that they can sleep on at the airport or on the plane etc - whilst I hate hearing a crying kid, what I hate more is a frantic parent trying to calm them down, if they had just got them stuff to do then most kids would not get upset, and then there are those kids who kick the back of the chairs and their parents do nothing about it, they sit there watching the movie and leave their kids to do whatever they like
then there is the arm rests, well, they are hardly big enough for an arm let alone two and for some people, they seem to think that they have the right to spread themselves out and plonk their arm on the rest and dig their elbows into the person next to them, it aint and arm rest, its a seat divider as far as I am concerned and I HATE people who dont respect the space of the person next to them, and what I REALLY HATE is when they start to read a paper and to be able to open the paper wide, they have to shove the paper in your face and noisily flick the pages
I also dont like the fixed shower heads, I dont want to get my hair wet every time I have a shower
bedding that it all tucked in and loads of pillows is annoying too and then those mini bars that are weighted so you cant take something out like cans so you can put your own stuff in the fridge as it charges you even though you have not consumed the item, just moved it out for a bit
forgot to add - when people chat over the emergency procedures demo on a plane, even though some people may have seen it loads, does not mean they should stop others from listening to it - I find that disrespectful
religious fanatics on long haul flights asking if 'you know Jesus died for your sins dont you'0 -

No, you are not at all...not unless you are going to tell about the amazing scuba holiday you have booked:D
I was just trying to say what really annoys us often has a reasonable reason for the other people. I don.t get too annoyed if people dress like slobs, or touch my seat a couple of times personally. Repeated kicking or noise does get my goat, but I'm probably annoying them as much without meaning too.:o
Travel is meant to be sort of enjoyable. It's annoying when others impede on that, but its even worse when we wind ourselves up, I think.
Hope you feel better now!0 -
When the planes arrives at its destination 90% of all passengers leap up practically as soon as the wheels touch the ground even though the seat belt signs are still on. Then they stand up closely packed in the aisles getting hot and not realizing they can not get off until the doors are open etc.0

After maybe 14 hours sat down I just want to stand up.
Also once off the plane (depending on destination) I often scuttle past as many people as possible, every one in front is one more in the queue for immigration which can take a long long time.0 -
Hate it when the guy sitting next to me (and it's always a man) splays his legs out so that I'm hunched up away from him.
Note: My husband is not allowed to do thisNormal people worry me.0 -
1) People with no concept of a queue. My first flight was last year and I was astonished to see people leaping over the chairs to get to the front of the queue when we started to board
2) When people sit in someone else's reserved seat. I've seen it on coaches, trains, and more recently on a flight in March when the same bloody woman sat in our seats both outbound and inbound  Honestly, how hard is it to check your ticket and locate your seat? If it's a genuine error I don't care, but it's when they start getting mouthy with you that bothers me.
3) Wailing children on planes. Obviously it can't be helped and I'm not blaming anyone for it but it does my head in.
4) People who eat fish in an enclosed space. This might be just me but I absolutely can't stand the smell and it makes me retch0 -
Greedy people, usually seen at breakfast.
Just because it is there, does not mean that you can actually fit it into your stomach.
Then they walk away and leave far more food than they have eaten. Do this at home do you?
When people give me a dirty look for taking a croissant with me. I put it on my plate. It will therefore be thrown away.. Let me eat it later.0
