Pet hates when travelling

On that particular flight Thomson had gone to huge efforts to remove any comfort at all from the cabin, so a tracksuit wouldnt have helped much with the levels of comfort.
From years of practice I have learnt to travel very light for business travel and only take what will fit in the overhead bin.
I'm a woman, and on those sort of occasions I am travelling as a 'corporate wife' which usually means two or three sets of evening wear, for two or three nights and three tops for day time, with hopefully what every I have worn through the flight to disappear for sight seeing alone, but look presentable infront of colleagues and clients if seen! For dh its the suit he wears, the spare shirts ties and sometimes an evening suit.....much easier!0 -
Children under the age of say 11 should not be allowed to board an airplane. They cause more distress than it's worth. Or a hefty levy deployed (reimbursed back to suffering passengers onboard the same plane)0

The Travel company reps who try to sell you overpriced coach trips to places you've never heard of but that you must go to because they're beeeeeautiful
The idiots who pay to go on the aforesaid overpriced coach trips.
People who you might politely say good morning to, who then seem to think that that makes you best friends for the whole holiday.
People who complain about their hotel or the food and seem to want it to spoil their holidays and try to include others in their moaning so that everyone has a miserable time.
Re the travel reps, our pet bugbear is being asked for tips. On my last coach trip, we heard from the driver about how little salary blah blah. On various Thomson tours over the last 3 years, the rep on the aforementioned over-priced tour (yes, Thomson's, we do mean you!), go on and on about tipping. We're British and OAP's (well, I am), and not so keen on tipping anyway.
The other thing is the single supplement. I can see the point if you are one person in a room for two. But to pay £100 on a £400 trip for a one-bedded room is not on. The holiday was still a cheap way to spend time in Bruges, however, in case you are wondering, but unsatisfactory.
My worst, however, is queuing for security. Why is it that in an airport where there is acres of unused space, we are then asked to crowd into a tiny, overheated area, squashed into a space where it's impossible to breathe where we move at snail's pace towards the 3 security officers for 500 people.
Being collected by Thomson/Thomas Cook or whoever and you are the last hotel to be delivered to, and the first (ie earliest for all the tours, getting to the airport etc). And not being told what is happening (why are we all just sitting at the airport in a hot coach not moving: are we waiting for another flight or what?).
To answer the question, package holidays are cheaper and we do prefer the "small & friendly" hotels that we go to, but Thomson could improve - it's the holiday that's supposed to be the package, not the travellers.0 -
Surely the best way to avoid the annoyances of package holidays is not to book a package and go DIY. You become your own travel rep.0

When people on the plane stand up in the gangways waiting to offload, I saw no point in that,
we do this for 2 reasons - firstly, we're sick to death of sitting and want nothing more than to be mobile RIGHT NOW and secondly, quicker off the plane means closer to the front of immigration queue - maybe not by much but still...I can completely understand why it seems bonkers to some. We are quite good about allowing others out along the way though...annoys me when people just stream by with no thought to those trying to get out of their aisle.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Although I do believe in buying me drinks to reward myself at the end of every day of successful holidaying. Lots of them.0 -
It was only on a couple of short flights anyway, less than an hour.
