It's lemon oil not juice - your health food shop might have it. It apparently has anti viral properties. As does Thuja which is a homeopathic remedy.

If there is a lot of hard skin built up it is worth getting a chiropodist to start the treatment off.

There is also a theory that you get verrucas when you are run down and they go when your immune system strengthens, so consider diet and general health

Duct tape worked for me too but wouldn't stay on my son's foot. We used Wartner for him which is very quick and easy but I don't know if it is suitable for a 6 year old. I might try the superglue idea next time...

I have verruca's that are extremely painful to walk on. I have tried twice at the doctors but they will not do anything. They say they can't, they are not allowed to prescribe as there are over the counter treatments.

I have used all these treatments and even attempted cutting them out myself, but nothing works and I am at my wits end. I have found a chiropodist but can't afford the fees.

I was told duct tape works but I just find it peels off minutes after I put it on and start walking around. Mine are on the ball of my foot, where there is a lot of pressure. Any suggestions, I 'd be grateful too.

I had mine on the balls of my feet. They were huge and very deep when I was at hospital getting them treated by freezing they said they wanted to cut out mine as I had had them so long and nothing worked. They told me that verruca's on the ball of the feet look exactly the same as corns which are very common on the ball of the feet due to the pressure of walking. They cut mine out but said if that didn't work they would refer me to podiatry for further treatment of corns. Luckily the treatment worked.

My daughter had a couple of verrucas a few years ago that would not give up and bazuka etc were making no difference. In the end I bought som salicylic acid and a foot file and filed the verrucas every evening befor eapplying the stuff. After a few weeks she was clear, just don't expect results overnight :)

Ohh also ppl that used lemon juice--fresh lemons or the bottled stuff?

It's the essential oil Lemon I used, just a little bottle, but it lasts for ages. I got mine online but health shops would sell it.

My DD had a persistant one that started to become sore when walking and after trying all the OTC remedies, filing etc and 2 attempts with the home freezing solution we tried the Duct Tape.

I cut a small square just large enough to cover the whole verruca and added 2 plasters on top to secure and left it for a whole week, after 1 week you could see it had started to turn black in the centre, so we repeated and after the 2nd week it just fell off!! result!

How does the duct tape work?!

    Might try this with dd...

Last time I read up on it they were not sure, they suspected it "irritated" the body which then sent white blood cells to the area to deal with the duct tape. The result being the white blood cells kill off the virus and repair the skin.

I assume the lack of light and oxygen help as well

My daughter had lots of verrucas on her feet (years of swimming), we used the Bazukka stuff and it made them smaller but didn't get rid of them, and more spread/developed on her feet. I took her to a chiropodist, and they put some professional stuff on and it got rid of them in a week and they completely disappeared and haven't returned years later.

My advice is to skip the Bazukka and go to a chiropodist for treatment. The amount you spend on the treatment is probably equivalent to a chiropodist trip.

Wartner was useless on mine - nothing ever died. The extra strength bazooka finally got rid of them, with a combination of cutting the dead skin with nail clippers and filing down with sandpaper every night. The crappy nail file that comes with the ointment is not even worth using. Also, don't leave it a couple of days before filing and reapplying ointment. Every single night for two months finally got rid of mine.
    Good, clean fun.... :D

Our Doctors used to run a freeze clinic once a month when the kids were small, used to work on small ones but i had a large one on my heel that took 4 years to get rid of completely, tried freezing it and bazooka, kept sanding it down and it just went in the end, horrible things to have
