Afraid not Phil. MP3 reduces stories, songs etc on Cd's to about 10% of the original size with minimal loss of quality - that's the whole point. To reduce your Audio to mp3 (or WMA or whatever) you have to 'rip' the cd. It's a simple process using Windows Media Player or similar. Then you put these 'small' files on your mp3 player.
Conversely if you have downloaded mp3 files onto your computer and wish to play them on an ordinary cd player than you have to burn them onto an Audio cd. (Again using windows media player or similar).
Just to confuse matters even further, I have a cd player that also plays mp3's. I can either play a music cd or I can rip 10 music cd's on my PC, into mp3 files and put them all on one cd which will also play on my cd player

Don't mean to be a show off but not only does my cd player play mp3 disc's it also has a USB port in it. Buying this mp3 player has given me my own jukebox in the kitchen with a 1000 song's. By the way a CD story is easily converted into a file type for the player to understand. Just pop it in the computer, open windows media player and 'rip it'. It automatically compresses due to WMP's default settings.

I've never owned one of these yet - please can someone tell me if this device is compatible with Mac OS X?

    hi

I called ebuyer !0845 1231100 who weren't able to tell me the answer to this as the relevant person was out. I left my email but am not specially hopeful they'll get back to me (they didn't sound as if customer service was their big thing; unsurprising at such low prices).

    However, the technical spec on

    doesn't mention Mac compatibility.

Why would anyone want to buy a MP3 player when you can get a MP4 player instead? Surely these are better because you can choose to add songs or movies on it.

I am a novice when it comes to electronics. Can somebody explain why it wouldn't be better to buy the MP4 player (details listed below) instead. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/images/smilies/confused-smiley-013.gif

Don't know if this etailer is any good, but they are offering 4Gb MP4 players for about £35. I had a look because unlike the sumvision players, these have folder navigation :

    https://www.ebest24.co.uk

Didn't buy one in the end, cos I couldn't justifying replacing something that still worked and I hardly used, but maybe of interest to others

As a result of seeing the email from Martin on 30/5 recommending this product, I decided to purchase this product from Aria at a cost of £41. I received it by return of post but the instructions are very poor and seem to miss out large chunks of information for MP3 beginners like me and I cannot get it to work, apart from the radio. I have contacted Aria with a view to returning it. The manufacturer of the product has a website https://www.vision-com.cn but that is worse than useless. This product may be cheap but that is all it is. Not a happy teddy bear as this was my first foray into getting an MP3 player.

'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
