meter tampering

  • The seal is replaced with a new one as getting the old one off knackers it, it can also leave little tell tale marks on the seal housing where the old seal has been levered up. There are lot of genuine seals around now from the factory in Liverpool. If that seal has a serial number on it linking it with those which have come from Liverpool .. case closed. I am not revealing the prepay gas bypass on a public forum. Enough people have figured it out judging by how many I m finding although last week the 2 gas meter fiddles I found where long term ones , where they had simply bolted a meter off ebay or stolen from a vacant propertys outside box in place of a prepay
  • what do you mean by case closed then -- do you mean that BG have won this ?

I think the meter was on zero when it was installed

According to BG the meter was new and manufactured in 2004 but they have not shown us any proof of that

I just know that we have not tampered -- unless I have been sleepwalking !!!

RP guys have to deal with some very aggressive and violent people, and if you get backs up this kinda says to us you know about it so stay calm.

the rpu officer put my hackles up by the way he spoke to me on the phone and yes I was very angry

I personally would offer them half of what they are asking. They have zero chance of a court agreeing with it, also your key is the meter was not fitted for you.

why should I offer them half of what they are asking --- why should I give them £ 1,100 approx. for some thing we haven`t used and for being innocent in all this

No -- what I should do is go to court --- win the case and counter sue them for a million to start with for the awful times they have put us through since December last year -- last Christmas was ruined for us because we had this hanging over our heads -- I went to work xmas day morning because I just felt so miserable -- then I put on smile and went home to the wife and our children --- bg deserve what they get from me

Okay you missed a vital bit of info, the meter was installed for you. This does change things, and Im afraid will go against you.

As its a cival matter its not criminal any court action is a little different, and is disconnection under the theft act.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Without taking any side in this case, a lesson to be learnt is that in a civil or criminal case, 'repeated assertion ain't proof'

Lance Armstrong sued and won loads of civil court actions.

it`s only in the last few days that people have mentioned about whether the meter was installed for us and I didn`t think it was important because if a tamper has occurred , the owner of the premises is held liable so that in itself will go against us .

As its a cival matter its not criminal any court action is a little different, and is disconnection under the theft act.

it would be so easy just to do a deal for half the money and pay back at say £ 5.00 per week --- but why should I when we have done nothing wrong --- and now it seems I am being criticised for repeated assertion --- well how would all of you feel if you were being accused of something as serious as this and you were innocent --- I have been harassed by British Gas for the last 11 months and it has been like a constant drip --- so yes -- I`m angry and frustrated --- and when someone says " he doth prostest too much " they should put themselves in the position of the accused to see how it feels when you are innocent

From what I remember , Lance Armstrong was a disgraced American cyclist who was accused of taking drugs -- he was stripped of his titles --- protested his innocence -- but later on he confessed I think on the Oprah Winfrey show that he had indeed taken drugs during his cycling career .
Mind you ---- he must have made a lot of money because he bought millions of dollars of shares in a bi-cycle company .
    I don`t see the connection between our case and his -- I mean I don`t do deliveries on a bi-cycle and I don`t do drugs !!!

what are the seals made off -- if you lever one out how do you fit another one --- how do you make the seal seal as it were -- or is it just because it`s a tight fit -- and is the seal located at the top of the unit which displays the readings or is the seal on the diaphragm -- is there a meter manual showing cutaway drawings of a meter --- I want to learn as much as I can about meters before I go into court so at least I will know what they are talking about because the guy from Scienco will be thinking he can just come and in and confuse me with science and try to run rings around me -- I want to be prepared

There are lot of genuine seals around now from the factory in Liverpool.

are the seals being stolen from the factory in Liverpool -- that should be stopped

If that seal has a serial number on it linking it with those which have come from Liverpool .. case closed.

well --- there won`t be a different serial number on our seal because we haven`t replaced it and it would have been in the Scienco report

I am not revealing the prepay gas bypass on a public forum.

according to the RPU man who found tampering at one of our rental properties the tenants had smashed the inner workings of the meter mechanism so that they don`t have to top up the meter with payments

Enough people have figured it out judging by how many I m finding although last week the 2 gas meter fiddles I found where long term ones , where they had simply bolted a meter off ebay or stolen from a vacant propertys outside box in place of a prepay

so if they bolt on a meter which has been bought off e bay --- what do they do when the meter reader turns up

has all of this been on the increase since the recession began

I guess they just refuse them access.

This might seem like a stupid question, but isn't swapping over meters and some of the other methods mentioned here pretty dangerous?

Are people risking their lives for this?

I understand that somebody might take a risk to steal diamonds or gold, but gas?

sacsquacco, chanz4 In terms of risk, what would you put it on par with?

Extremely dangerous --- if you are using the hoover method you would have to from what I understand ( never done this so I could be wrong ) remove the diaphragm --- if you do this repeatedly you may damage the rubber seal which could result in gas leakage --- light up a cigarette and you are sitting on the far side of the moon . Not only are they risking their own lives -- they are risking the lives of other people and if there is an explosion not only lives but other peoples properties as well . Same danger for swapping meters --- there is a risk of gas leakage . Absolute stupidity . Don`t risk it anyone --- put on another jumper ---- get a duvet wrapped around you --- it`s healthier --- since we turned down our radiators ( a good few years now ) no-one in our family has had even a cold !!! Before I was married and after my first flat , when I had ton`s of money my heating was quite full on and I had at least 2 colds every year ! Try it --- turn down your radiators and find other ways of keeping warm -- like I said -- big jumpers and duvets or thermal blankets !!!

I understand that somebody might take a risk to steal diamonds or gold, but gas?

sacsquacco, chanz4 In terms of risk, what would you put it on par with?

Russian roulette with bullets in 5 chambers of a six shooter perhaps !!!
