Afternoon to you all! Managed to get a big pile of ironing done but, having just brought the washing in from the line, there is now another one! Will try and do that early tomorrow morning before I do the baking - didn't get round to doing QUEENIE's Jam Crumblies (after I made her interrupt her cooking, as well!) but will make them tomorrow along with the Weetabix Brownies, a Weetabix Maltloaf I found on here somewhere (QUEENIE again?) and anything else I can think of to make good use of the oven!
QUEENIE - we have several colleges locally so I will check out the hairdressing - good tip! Will also have a go at making some lavender rice bags - another good tip! What would I do without you?
MEANMARIE - HOW MUCH?!!!!!!! £420!!!! Are they gold?
SLOWLYFADING - good luck with the exam tomorrow.
It's been a lovely day here today - I hope it lasts a bit longer. Have just put the dinner on - not sure what time DH will be back - he's just finishing off a kitchen for a customer and will stay until it's done.
I have just put the ironing away and put some paperwork ready to try and do tomorrow if I've time - I ran out of time today.
How to Look Good Naked on the box tonight which I shall watch while I'm knitting; Whistleblower looks good - on BBC 1 at 9.00 - about the supermarkets, then I'll try and have an early night after a lavender bath, a lavender body lotion application and a lavender-on-the-pillow dose!
Hope everyone is having a good day. Will try and pop back later to see how you all are.

    Good evening everyone :hello:

Thanks anniestar for commiserating over my "boys". They were brave little soldiers on Sunday, but I'm still contemplating asking for my money back. :D They didn't really "turn up" for the match. There may well have been 15 of them on the pitch, but definitely no brains...............

I had an ultra-hectic weekend. Saturday, I got up early to drive to Harrogate for a school reunion. The director of music/choir master is retiring, so the choir members for the 30 years of his "reign" were invited. It was great to see some people who I last saw 12 years ago - including my old maths teacher, who hadn't changed a bit! :) A friend and I had got a deal on a hotel that we'd always wanted to stay at, so we sat talking for a good long while in the evening. However, I then had to get up mega-early for my mercy-mission dash down to London for the rugby! :o Let's just say that DH's car seemed to go quite quickly.

It was back to earth with a bump yesterday. Although optional SATS are over, the marking and reporting of levels still has to be done. I did quite a bit of it last week, but with a full weekend there was a bit of a hangover into this week.

As for OS........... well, I haven't crumpled too much into the ready made food slippery slope of despair. Thank goodness for a freezer with plenty of portions already in it. And thank goodness for beans on toast - our supper last night because I couldn't be bothered! Supper tonight is a bacon and mushroom sauce with pasta..... using a packet mix in the sauce *hangs head in mortal shame*.

DH passed his exam today, so me pushing the boat out for supper :o will be his reward. ;) He has now got the letters "MCSE" after his name  thanks to him doing self-study towards this Microsoft qualification and no thanks to his company who gave him no backing, even though it was in the budget for them to pay for it.

    Must go for now.

    Hiya everyone,

Well we left Ullapool late morning and traveled over to Lossiemouth. Another one for you to look up Queenie. :D We stopped in to a couple of National Trusts (that we get in for free ;)) which were great. Brodie Castle was fabulous while the Battlefield at Culloden was a bit sad.

We travel back to Errol tomorrow after visiting Kyle & Twink. :D Plans in the morning is to have a bit of a wander around here. These last couple of days have been a trip down memory lane for me. Tonight DH took me out to the hotel for tea Dad, Mum, Aunty Marg & I stayed 32 years ago. It was opposite the golf club. Tea was a bit disappointing but I still remembered the hotel.

We also went to Ullapool & DH hadn't been there and it's such gorgeous scenery.

Well off to read the thread properly. Hope you all have a good nights sleep. Byeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

No, Mioliere, the new specs are not gold, one of the cheapest frames I could bear to wear, they are varifocals which are more expensive and the price in £ was about £285...€420. I don't have any entitlement to benefit for glasses or dental until I am 70...as a civil servant I didn't pay full social insurance, newer entrants do...never could see why, no doubt some genius 50 years ago decided that civil servants didn't need such cover as they had such secure jobs..or some such c**p.

Annistar, glad to hear that Phoebe is making a recovery.

Aussielass, you are having a tour aren't you...I've only been in Scotland once, for a weekend when my godson married a Glasgow girl....will make it back some time and see if I can understand the Scots Gaelic, I hope that people still speak it somewhere??

Oh spent the pm making a 'sideboard' or whatever you would call it between the two barbecues...one is a cast-off of my brother's and works fine, the other one no longer works on gas but charcoal as the whatyoumaycallit that controls the gas fire has disintegrated, but we can use charcoal in it to speed the cooking process when we have a crowd....now there is only the little matter of suitable weather! He is now fast asleep in front of the tv...no stamina.

Might try for an early night to-night...brain working overtime so might have to use the lavender.

    Night all,

    Marie.
