Oh yes indeedy! :D In fact, if you check the Index, you will find threads on freezing ahead sandwiches too - then, all DH has to do is take out his sandwich from the freezer in the morning and it should be nicely defrosted by lunchtime :D

Hi – just dropping in while the kitchen floor dries; proper hands-and-knees job today! B****y mop that I asked DH to buy when he was shopping is useless – leaves the floor dirtier than before! Anyway, it’s gleaming now and I am puffed out so having a breather!
KYLE – glad you’re feeling better today!
QUEENIE – so glad I didn’t spoil last night’s dinner!
RCHDDAP1 – I hope you can get some treatment for your knee today. Not much fun when you’ve got LOs around, is it?
TINKERBELLUK – I’m sure the exam went better than you think! Both my DSs always used to think they had done badly but, when the results came in, they had always done well!
HERBAHOLIC – I make sandwiches before they’re needed and leave them in the freezer or fridge – DH just doesn’t know that! He thinks he can tell but, like all men, he’s easily fooled! I have tendonitis in both hands and it’s at its worst first thing in the morning so it’s painful doing things like making sandwiches first thing. Besides, I need to preserve my hands for knitting and typing on here – much more important!
Anyway, it’s a lovely day here. I have two loads of washing on the line, the ironing board is up and ready for action (more than I can say for the ironer!) so will do a bit before I have to leave for the dentist. Have done a quick dust and hoover round downstairs; dinner will be left-over new potatoes – fried – with New Forest sausages from the butcher and salad for me and beans for DH because ‘I always have beans with fried potatoes and sausages!’, followed by stewed rhubarb and yoghurt so that’s an easy-cook meal tonight. Need to check my clothes for my mother-of-the-groom occasion in Italy on 5th June but I know I need some new shoes, or, rather ‘new’ to me – will check the charity shops after the dentist. I don’t have any shoes to match the dress I’m wearing but DH thinks I do (he’s SO colour blind!). I might even dye some to match. I need to colour my hair again or I’ll look like the granny-of-the-groom – DH puts the colour on for me – he does a really good job because he’s much more patient than I am! I’ll get it trimmed next week so that will be the ‘head’ bit done! Just the body left to do!
Well, I’ve got half an hour to get some ironing done so I can’t put it off any longer. Will love and leave you all and hope you’re all getting some of this lovely sunshine and blue sky!
Can’t wait to find out what the dentist will charge – seems to go up with every visit. Just hope I don’t need treatment!

    See you later.

    Morning everyone!

<<tinkerbell>> sorry to hear you and Mr Tink are having problems. Best thing to do is try and talk about what's missing in your relationship, and see if it's salvageable. On the two occasions when I seriously thought of leaving my DH, I wrote down all the things I used to love about him, all the thinkgs I still loved about him, I liked about him, and all the negatives too. I found that most of the negatives had always been there, that I still loved the positives... and when I got to the new things that bothered me, we talked about those and made a way forward.

Jet Benson sounds like he's going to be a real handful :-)

Yesterday I decided to try that Adios product, which is supposed to help your metabolism speed up. Hmm, seems ful.l of diuretics to me, but I assume they can't make a metabolism claim without some proof? Has anyone else used it?

Today is a non gym day, so i'm going to cycle into Windsor to the fishmonger. I'm going to try Plaice, still using Gary Rhodes' wonderful batter recipe. Hopefully my persistence wll pay off and I'll overcome this dislike of fish taste/texture.

The concretery is almost dismantled now. I've got a hedge growing across the top of it, and we're going to attempt to relocate it to the bottom of the garden. I don't know if it'll survive, but we have done a successful transplant before so I think there's a good chance. Once that is out, I have to try and rescue the clematis and put it in a pot or somrething, and I can then attack the back. If DH finishes work early, I'll crack on with that. (He wants to do th etransplanting of the hedge you see).

OS wise, no cleaning planned but will tidy through. I've already done my hand washing. Hopefully the new washing line will arrive today....I think I've got some curtains that could do with washing. It's such a gorgeous sunny day, I love to see washing on the line.

Need to make a vat of carrot soup for freezing, so will do that later if I can work up the enthusiasm.

Dinner is HM Battered Plaice. DH will be having chips, I'll be having broccoli. And one chip, just to give the Plaice a chance.

<Hugs> to anyone and everyone who needs or would like one. I'll be bacl later to catch up with the people that come after me.

    xxxxx

Went to the smoking cessation clinic last night - it was a bit busy because there are a lot of people packing in now ready for the smoking in public places ban in June. Im on my 16th day smoke free - I have a little program on my computer which reminds me how I am doing. It currently states I have NOT smoked 306 cigarettes and have saved over £75 :D
    WELL DONE OOPS A DAISY

16 days! You're definately on the home run now.
When I quit I sometimes used to crave a cigarette - but I would just take a deep breath, say to myself "not yet" and then the craving would pass.

Im now in my 3rd year!!

So keep up the good work. You are a star!!

Right I am going to try this one last time and if it throws me off that’s it, I will read but not post.

Yesterday I got my plate repaired and made an appointment to have the impressions done for a metal one £350!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Shock horror…………but it has got to be better than this one breaking. It’s only 2 years old as well and cost £75 then.

I stood and did my ironing last night whilst watching the double dose of Chelsea, mostly sheets and pillow cases from before we went away and that we took with us, I hate the sheets that they hire to you, prefer to take my own, use a double quilt cover under the blankets they supply………works well, I got the duvet cover from a charity shop some years ago and it works great when we do ‘caravan holidays’.

OH is off doing a little job for his friend, he helps him with his garden. If it’s not too hot we are going to the allotment for a couple of hours this afternoon……..otherwise it will have to wait until the end of the week. It’s a bright sunny morning, but a nice breeze blowing in through the window.

Tomorrow afternoon we have a residents meeting, outside the front door there is an area with wooden benches in, there are some nice plants there, but its full of rubbish and the shrubs need cutting back, we are going to offer to keep it so that it’s a bit pleasanter for the residents to sit in when the weather is good. The surrounds to the complex are also a bit devoid of interest, some shrubs but mostly bare earth. Will see if we can get something done about that too, it looks a sight especially from the road.

I need to go to the shopping mall tomorrow, not shopping but to pick up prescriptions, seem to have run out of everything right now……….

We had to have the lock changed on the apartment yesterday, for some time I had thought that someone had a key; we seemed to come back and find the door unlocked…..  so on Saturday when we went out I locked the door and tried it to make sure it was locked, when I came back and tried the handle the door opened……….I thought OH had come back as it was raining, but no sign of him at all……….we reported it and yesterday got a new lock and 3 keys which confirmed what I thought, when we took over we were only given one key!!!!!! I had to pay to get two more cut. There did not appear to be anything missing, just the door unlocked, someone had been in but not touched anything as far as I could see but it let me feeling very uncomfortable I can tell you. We are not allowed to have chains on the door as if there is an emergency the wardens etc cannot get in, I had thought of getting a shed alarm and putting it in the hallway, so if anyone did come in they would get a real shock……

I have inspected the fridge/freezer and I have enough in there to keep us going until next week, so no shopping apart from lettuce, ours are not ready yet…….so theoretically we should save on the housekeeping this month……….I took a lot of frozen home cooked meals with us to France, so we brought stuff back which was paid for out of our ‘holiday’ money.:T :T

QUEENIE: your recipe, can you cook it in a normal over???????if so what temp. I no longer have a micro.............

Right I am off for a coffee and a quick Hoover round, the carpet is still fluffing quite a bit……………..:D :D :j

    Morning all

Been out of the OS room for a couple of days. Went to London for the weekend and took DS to the Natural History Museum for his 5th Birthday treat. He loved it. DD also loved it, she adores T- Rex and also wants to fly planes when she grows up.:p

Trip was non-OS in that we ate out lots, but was OS in that we had a budget and stuck to it!!!:j

I'll catch up the thread in a mo - but I'm taking advantage of DD "cleaning" my mirror to sneak here.

Just been on Amazon and bought a kitchenaid Classic stand mixer for £199. It's reduced by £100 and is the colour I want (white). Been wanting one for years now. Ideally I would have liked tha Artisan one, but couldn't justify an extra £130 for not a lot more. Now I just need to get the kitchen to match.:rotfl:

Look out for lots of cakes, pavlova's and the like from me.

Take care - off to see what you've been doing

    Good morning everyone

Just thought I would pop in and say hello - haven't been on here for suuuuuuch a long while!

(((hugs)))) to all who are feeling poorly

Lovely day here in sunny Essex, the washing is out & DS has just come home having stayed overnight with his friend in Suffolk so now they are both here - rather quiet, so I suspect they are playing a warhammer game or something like that.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to all of you

After three days of rushing around madly, visiting relatives, visiting DD at uni and then a day taking another Dd shopping and dragging her to get a new hair style!!! - finally have a few hours of peace and quiet.

Soup is in the slow cooker- dishes are in the dish washer - two loads of washing need to be pegged out on the line - and I am on MSE! Bliss!

Made a huge quiche with bacon, cheese, onions, garlic and broccoli yesterday and have some of that left for anyone who does not fancy the soup.

Made spag bol (new meatless recipe as Sainsbury now do meatless frozen mince) and have some spicy mince left which might have for lunch for me and DH if he comes home early.

Trying to type with my fingers and toes crossed as DD has exams at uni today and is really stressed.

Hugs to everyone and especially to penny pincher re the £12 a week meals thread. We all love your menus and we all do things our own way but someone elses menu can remind us of things we used to make or encourage us to try something new. It is not stodgy and never mind the troll!

She posted a comment on the "madeleine" thread that nearly got her lynched!
