BT's unlimited broadband is £10.75pm for 6 months, then £26.75pm for 6 months over a 12 month contract (assuming you pay line rental up front). So £18.75pm on average, minus any cashback you can get from switching. This'd include BT Sport on your Sky box.

So only a bit more than just getting BT Sport on Sky without BT broadband.

BT Infinity is of course more pricey.

I tend to look past introductory deals if it’s a product I’mplanning to stick with.

On the BT website it says unlimited broadband is £16 a month, with £15.45 line rental which is over £30 a month before I’ve even added any inclusive calls. Looks like that costs another £7 a month (not sure if they do the equivalent of talktalks inclusive local calls).

So after the ‘free for 6 months’ offer BT are doing, I’ll be paying over £37 a month for something I’m currently paying about £21 for. I might as well just pay for BT Sport if I really wanted it!
  • Thank you Sky.. Just ditched VirginMedia - end of contract and no offer of discount..
Now having Sky EE+ & Sky Sports and Movies in HD £35.50 for 12 months..(50% off if you don't take the £100 M&S gift card) BT's infinity 2 and line rental £43.. Total: £79.00 (There's also BT's first 3 months at £20 + line rental & £50 Sainsbury's gift card)
I've been paying £76+ for XL package for BB, Phone and TV; that's £3 extra for Sky sports and movies in HD.. Great stuff..

Yes, it's not likely by itself to have many flocking to take up their broadband. What it will do, however, is halt the current exodus of BT subscribers to the likes of Talk Talk and Sky.

I wonder how Virgin Media will respond? They were carrying ESPN free on their TVXL package-I doubt they'll be able to offer BT Sports on the same terms.

I think I'll be one of the BT broadband customer taking their TV package on the 1st of Aug. At £5 extra it is good value and even my wife won't complain because it includes motoGP coverage:-)

    Don't the BBC have MotoGP?
I thought they did with Eurosport taking a delayed feed

Very little, that's why they still have so few subscribers.

BT Vision is changing quite rapidly.

They have a library of on-demand content to watch, but it keeps shrinking as they lose the rights for the better stuff to Sky.

They have just introduced new streaming channels, that are not available to Freeview subscribers. They are sent over the broadband, but are only available to customers who have Infinity (not ADSL) and only on exchanges that have been multicast enabled (which is most of them by now).

Unfortunately, the constant changes, and the different content available to YouView vs. BT Vision customers, makes the whole thing rather confusing.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Sky are looking to cut BT Vision's balls off (ie its content).

It won't work. And that second largest ISP tag they were looking for with the acquisition of O2 BB? That won't work either. AND they may also be now facing severe churn in regard to they're own telephony and BB customers too, with the above news.

    Interesting times...

BT Sport has won the TV rights for MotoGP from 2014 in a five-year deal, after a decade of coverage on the BBC. BBC coverage for the remainder of this season will be unaffected .....

I do wonder at the medium term effects on BB capacity of all this compressed video thats going to be rammed down the network by BT and others.... Still BT are shoving more and more fibre in the ducts so its all good. BT are now really escaping the doldrums they were in a few years ago..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

This actually looks like an interesting deal, if like me you like your footy. As "shortchanged" mentioned, it's so annoying to have to pay Sky for an extra package @£21.50 just to get Sports added...anyway I sacked Sky a few years ago vowing never to return...but I do miss the footy....

I've got BT Infinity but I've resisted their regular letters inviting me to get their Youview box thing...£49 to "activate" box...£6.95 delivery and then £5 a month for...well... Freeview! and some on-demand stuff. My TV already has Freeview HD built in so obviously no reason to even consider the BT Youview box...until now! grrrr I am tempted.

As far as I can work out after [STRIKE]going round in circles[/STRIKE] thoroughly researching on BT's website I could get Sky Sports 1 & 2 for £20 and BT Sports 1 & 2 + ESPN etc for FREE? Add in the £5 a month for the box = £25 a month. But then there's the line rental and Infinity cost (£40 ish) would all come in at roughly £65 a month! I think I've just talked myself out of this deal :rotfl:!

Although on the BT website it says it's free to stream to PC/Mac/tablet or smartphone if you're a BT Broadband/Infinity customer which does look like the best moneysaving option.

    Damn !!!

I'll have to look around an see what feeds are up in the clear when the time comes.

I have to deal with BT on a daily basis with business lines and broadband, it is truly one of the most frustrating and annoying parts of my job.
The processes are clunky but if it goes OK, it usually works fine, you really have no idea what's happening though.
On the other hand, if something goes wrong or there's a delay, god help you.
I have this image of them all playing musical chairs in their office, every time you call for an update, they know nothing about it.
I've spoken to some really nice people at BT, nice but incompetent.

I hope the BT Vision side of things has a firewall between it and any part of their PSTN business otherwise it'll be a fiasco.

    Good luck
