BT giving Sky a good run for their money. Just what is needed for the TV market. More competition.
Sky throwing the toys out of the pram by banning BT adverts on Sky Sports channels, which is to be investigated.
Sky share prices fall 4% on the news released today. :T

Sky will win in the end.
Sky showed with the F1 channel and Virgin subscribers just how much leverage they have in the UK with the SKY Sports brand.0 -
That all depends. If the take up of bt sport is good then when the rights to sports come round again expect sky to lose a few more. It is definitely interesting times ahead as fr the first time sky are competing with a company bigger than themselves and arguably more cash rich than themselves.0

Which is a great shame.
What is needed in the TV market is more choice and options.
The thing that bugs me most about Sky sports is that you have to have a basic sky package at around £21.50 a month before you then have to pay extra for the sports package.
Why can't you just get sports without all the other rubbish?
Hopefully this will help push changes in the sports viewing market.
Skys new online day pass for sports is a good start but is horribly overpriced in my opinion.0 -

There are only 750,000 BT subscription TV customers, so it makes sense to market to the six million who get their internet from them.
It's good news for customers, as Sky will need to respond accordingly.0 -

Yes sorry.
I was actually listening to the report on the news at one on BBC which stated the 4% figure, so I guess things got even worse for them since that report.
Currently running at just over 5% down.0 -
Ooo. BT sport now to be free if you take BT Broadband. Now, there's something else to haggle with when you ring SKY!0

Honestly, BT giving BT Sport's three HD channels to those with BT broadband for free via satellite or YouView is awesome. Looks like Sky finally have some big-time competition when it comes to sport!0
-
Is that just BT's exclusive coverage of their games? i.e. presumably this doesn't include SkySports which you will still have to pay for?0

So, yes, it's only BT's football (38 games) they'll give "free" if you have their infinity broadband. You'll still have to pay extra to watch the Sky games.
I'm sure Rio Ferdinand is going to provide some really intelligent analysis.
Sky and now BT are very keen to have their customers use them for all services (phone, TV, broadband). You're far less likely to switch providers if you're all-in with one company.
I guess Sky will be charging £13 a month or so for the BT channel just like they did with ESPN.0
