Hi BA, just been reading your diary, you r doing really well. Keep it up!!
Love your avatar as well..0 -
Well sorted out my monthly train pass this month - felt horrible taking £70 out of the cash machine, but it was budgeted for I guess!
Also had to buy some pine nut kernals for lunch - so necessary!
Am still trying to sort out DS's fancy dress outfit and should have that done by tomorrow, it will definately take me over my weekly budget - which I'm stressing about - but I hope I can get the money back by selling it on? I calculated I would spend the same if not more putting something together myself and I do want them to look good as they are both so excited.
Feel a little down today as I know I won't stick to my budget this week due to fancy dress outfits and now I'm panicking that I will go off budget for the rest of the monthI think I'm becoming irrational about the whole money thing, and I'm wondering when I will begin to relax a little and being frugal will become easier and more natural rather than obsessive and feeling guilty about everything that I spend
I really really want to do this and get my DFD but I know it's going to be such a long hard slog and I'm really worried I won't make it and go off the rails like I have done so many times before.0 -
:grouphug: have a hug first. No one said becoming a debt free would be easy - its much harder than it was to spend the money in the first place! But you've done loads so far, and the fact that you're now questioning everything you're spending is a good thing. You'll be okay, dont panic.

HI blackangel
Sympathies with the stress, the DFW road is a long and difficult one at times!
When I started my spending diary one of the things that came over strongly was how much you have to spend on school activities. Your fancy dress outfits are a good example. There always seem to be trips, charity fundraising dos, fetes requiring tombola prizes, leaving gifts for teachers etc etc. To make a realistic budget you have to include a sum for these.
Don't let the fancy dress outfits get you down - as a loving mum you have no choice but to provide these things and as you say, you may get your money back anyway.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Thank you, I think I will have to put some money aside for school as well. I'm only 2 weeks down the road and this is my first proper "down" day. Have perked up a little as discovered OH has just had £700 of expenses paid, I had already transferred his CC balance thinking we were owed nothing, so I can now use some of this to pay my extortionate gas bill and the rest to discharge a bit more of a debt - instead of spending it :j0 -
Slightly more optimistic today!
Paid the Gas bill with the expenses and have shoved the remainder in an unused account, together with some money from Amazon until I decide what card to pay off. I was thinking I would use the unused account to put extra monies that come in and then use it at the end of the month to add to my £500 repayments. At the moment I have an extra £450 there to use.
Spent nothing today, lunch is in fridge and no intention of leaving the office until it's home time.
Slightly miffed with DH last night as he had gone to play golf with his friend and when I got back from work (late) he had got a babysitter so he could go out earlier - hardly what we can afford and I would rather pay a babysitter for something we do together - but one of those things I guess
Re children's outfits, DD's zebra outfit coming along nicely, got the main body and going to get some fabric for FIL's partner to make some trousers and sleeves. Am about to bid for a tiger suit for DS - only £3.50 at the mo so wish me luck!
My only other question is I was knocked back on Capital One, 0% is up on Halifax in Sept so I want a card before then. Should I wait 3 months before reapplying for another card due to the knock back? If I get knocked back again, do the CC companies ever offer low deals to stay with them i.e. long term low interest.0 -
Yay :j I won the auction £3.50 plus p&p for a suit that originally cost £23 - one outfit down, half of one to go0
-
Congrats on the fancy dress costumes - you may well be able to recoup all of your money on that one, so very DFW.
Re the capital one card, I am queen of knockbacks I think - prob best to leave it a while before applying for another one - when I spoke to experian earlier this year, they said wait 6 months which is quite a long time, but may be worth it, rather than risk another rejection?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
