on that basis they can just empty my account then... you dont seem to be understanding... i only gave 'one' company my details, yet 'two' companies take money out of my account.
again i ask the question, is my new card blocked to these two companies or do they have the power to take funds from my account?
when i got my new card i was under the impression that noone but myself had access to this card.
and to all the ones who think that a company is legitimately taking money from it 'customers' when 99% dont want the funds taken... what exactly is your idea of a scammer/ frauder? we all got tricked into this. its no different than a pick pocket.0 -

One last time - the new card is neither here nor there. When you authorise a payment, the authorisation remains no matter how many times you change your card.
So any valid payment will still be honoured. No new authorisation can be given on your old card. But existing ones will go through.
So if the terms you signed say that they can take £50 every month from your account, then that is what will happen.0 -
im worried more about the fraudsters sending my detail about to more companies then them all taking money. just as they have already done.
your talking about honour and valid payments, well non of these have came from merrywood loans and loan options. and im certainly not going to be trustworthy towards them again.
so lets recap- fraudsters have my sort code and account number- i didnt authorize two transactions- whats to stop them continuing? i read up about a guy who had hundreds taken from his account...
so come on, can you confirm if they have my sort code and acc number, altho i got a new card, if it possible for them to take money. a very very simple question which you are realy making into a marathon of answers...0 -
Have you cancelled as per Merrywood T&C'sClients have the right to cancel an application and receive a refund under the Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004, providing the cancellation is made within 14 days of receipt of these Terms & Conditions and providing the cancellation request is made in writing

nope. i wouldnt even be bothered sending them a letter. ive wasted enough time. and i dont care about a refund.
i am more worried about these companies doing it all over again. my customer service advisor on my card did say there was like 6 companies trying to take money from my account, all loan companies. and ive never even had a loan.0 -
so, was there really any point in me blocking my card and getting a replacement... would be a good question.
i might just get a completely new card. too much hastle.0 -

No because a new card doesn't chnage anything, the card isnt used to take the money from your account, you need to write requesting a refund, if no reply within 8 weeks then complain to the fos (just google it).
Did you read the T&C's before you gave your bank details ?
Maybeopen up a new account with an unrelated bank (also not part of the same group) and transfer your money and direct debits over.0 -
This just happened to me, can't get in touch with the company. I didn't submit my details successfully though, it came up telling me that my details where wrong and I got to my senses and left the site.
Can't get in touch with them and my bank won't help.
Just for those wondering it is indeed fraud. I can't post the link because I'm new but actionfraud classes it as advance fee fraud. I'm going to my bank later and going to try them to believe me that they took my details for this but told me on the site my card details where wrong. Just wondering how people can do this for their "job". :mad:0 -

What details were wrong ?
You mean advance fee fraud ?
Those people who man the phones do it as its a job as it pays the bills.0 -

The situations Action Fraud regard as Advance Fee Fraud applies when a person applies for a loan and is accepted, and is only then told that they need to pay a fee for the loan. It's quite clear on Action Fraud's website: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/node/240.
The difference between Advance Fee Fraud and what you are describing with MoneyWarehouse is that you are told before applying for the loan that there will be a fee. It's on Money Warehouse's FAQs section which can be found here: https://www.moneywarehouse.co.uk/FAQs.html. The relevant sections are What does MoneyWarehouse Do? and Do you take a fee?.
The distinction between mentioning a fee before finding a loan (as MoneyWarehouse do) and after finding a loan (as is the case with Advance Fee Fraud) is an important one. It means that MoneyWarehouse and similar sites are fully legal. Immoral, perhaps, but not illegal.
You're not the first, and you won't be the last, to fall for them. But as long as there are people who don't bother to read Terms and Conditions or FAQs then they will always be around."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0
