have just had this exact same problem spoke to my bank and they told me to contact money warehouse and inform them that this is against the consumer credit act and is therefore illegal - the bank said they should drop the money straight back into my account

You not embarrassed to be so stupid?

    None.

    Use their refund procedure.
  • Under the distance selling regulations you have 14 days (I think it's that) to cancel your 'membership' and ask for a refund.
    DMP-£7500 (02/04/14)
    Secured loan-£8000 (02/04/14)

Cancelling your card does nothing to prevent the transactions you've already authorised.

But it sounds like they've already taken your fee, so you should be OK now.

Unless he gave his details to more than one outfit
Actually, it is becoming obvious that these companies actually pass the details around for anyone to help themselves. I've seen more than one case where the OP is confident they only dealt with one company, yet somehow various companies take a bite.

As for cancelling under distance selling regulations, it is irrelevant for financial products sold in this way. It is 7 days, not 14. Fourteen days only applies if credit was extended, in this case, it is a simple contract, so seven days, not 14.

    I despair.

Whilst I wouldn't touch any such company with a bargepole anyway, none seem to have been convicted of any illegal offence here.

Scam, conned, robbed -all very emotive terms and I sympathise with those who genuinely feel these accusations have any basis.
    Maybe they do?
But until any of these companies are tried in a court of law and found guilty they have done none of those things.

It seems every time that someone doesn't read the small print (even if it really IS small which for most times it isn't) or simply is 'click happy' on a website as all they can 'see' is the loan amount they will receive rather than what they will pay or what hoops they have to jump through, then it's all the loan providers fault and they are 'obviously' dishonest!

Just because the media like to portray any service or goods provider who ever has an unhappy customer as needing 'watchdog' done get done get dom' yada yada yada to sort them out means that terms like 'scam' 'con' etc are seen as acceptable for disgruntled customers to use against them.

Frankly it's crap -people ought to take responsibility for their own fook oops and not start shouting how dishonest the companies are -unless they have been convicted of such of course?
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

They can take whatever you have authorised them to take. No more.
