Lots of statistics - still no facts. Here are a few quotes from a single paragraph of your link...
Current estimates of the rate at which new coal plants are being built range widely. According to Greg Boyce, CEO of Peabody Energy, China is building 2 gigawatts (2,000 megawatts) of new power plants, mostly coal fired, per week.[58] However, actual statistics gathered by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) indicate that the pace of building is significantly slower than that.
A difficulty in tracking Chinese coal data is that new plants frequently displace older ones. In 2007, the National Development and Reform Commission (NRDC) of China announced that the building of all new coal plants must be accompanied by the elimination of older, less efficient generators. For example, a new 300 MW power station will require the decommissioning of 240 MW of capacity of an older station.
All coal plants with a capacity under 50 MW, and 100 MW generators older than 20 years, are to be closed by 2010.[61] In February 2009, the Chinese government announced that by 2011 it will replace 31 GW of coal-fired power plants with newer, more energy-efficient models.[62]

ps - I would guess that the local illegal power plants are small and temporary. TTAccording to Clapton, I am a totally ignorant idiot.0 -

The simple point here is you won't accept anything. Bit of a silly thread in all honesty and you haven't achieved the aim of damaging UKIP.
You cannot prove that what UKIP say is wrong. BUT expect us to prove it right and won't accept anything which backs UKIP up. Pointless going on.0 -

The simple point here is that you won't accept anything. Lots of silly responses in all honesty and you haven't achieved the aim of protecting UKIP.
You cannot prove that what UKIP say is right. But you expect me to prove them wrong and won't accept anything which does not support UKIP.
This isn't about UKIP (believe it or not, I actually wish them well, which is why it bothers me when they publish rubbish).
It's about the uses and abuses of statistics, and the thread has done nothing to diminish my view that too many people are willing to accept unsupported statements at face value without bothering to engage their brain and ask themselves precisely what they are being expected to believe.

I feel like I'm listening to the witterings of a 6th Form philosophy student.
'But how do we know anything is real?'
'That's, like, totally deep.'0 -
