QUEENIE – you should know better than to mention something that sounds delicious and not give us the recipe – Jam Crumblies sound fab – PLEEEEEASE tell us how! How sad for your friend; we all assume everyone has the basics, nowadays, don’t we? I hope her luck improves. With you on her side, she can’t fail!
CRAZYCHIK – I hope your headache has gone by now. (((hugs))) to Charlie – and you, of course!
SHEZ – I would love to go to the Chelsea Flower Show but it is very expensive, isn’t it? My mum went last year and loved it.
PATENTGIRL – congratulations to DD1 – both my DSs got engaged – it seems so old-fashioned nowadays but I was so glad they both did it properly – down on one bended knee, as well!
Well, had a part-busy and part-lazy day; listed a few more books on Amazon, did a bit of shopping this morning but didn’t buy anything exciting – just milk and the paper. Paid DH’s N.I. bill; my free Oil of Olay face mask came this morning so may try that tonight! Will let you know if it works!
Potatoes are on for dinner, chicken drumsticks are tarragoned and cooked and salad made. Nice simple fare because I’m feeling tired – have done a lot of paperwork and my eyes are wobbling now!
I think I’ll have to go now – I’ve forgotten to empty the TD (yes, I know – but it’s been raining all day!) so I’d better do that.
Will drop in later – hope everyone is having a good day.

samsampotts.... ooohh i hope you can freeze them !!!! ill cry if they come out yucky !!!! i just pressumed that i could !! lol !!!! has anyone else frozen flapjacks ?

well i have just made the porridge and milk thing and hung it under a running hot bath, i didnt have any spare tights so i used an old white thin sock, the water looks a bit murkey but it is nice and soft .. dd is in it now, i read it on the os thread about making your own bath skin scrubs this morning, i think ginghamribbon started the thread, worth a read, i want to have a go at making some body salt srub next.

anniestar, please give pheobie a cuddle from us, i just love animals, i started to watch HongKong vets earlier but i had to turn it off as i was getting upset, they have pet bins scattered around for people to put unwanted or stray cats ect in, everyday the vets open them to rescue anything they put in , this takes 2 hours before they get back to the vets, in one of the bins there where two tiny kittens but they were so ill that they had to put them down there and then... that was it for me i had to turn it off.. i used to get in such a state watching Rolf Harris in Animal Hospital

    anyway have a good evening

    Evening all,

Welcome to Ilovecakes (so do I !),

Scuzz, sorry that things are still not settled...do it now,

Anniestar, poor Phoebe...sounds as if you have to make a tough decision.

I would love to give blood, but because I had blood transfusion in 1987 they won't take mine, so nothing I can do..OH reckons there is no point in him offering as the wine content would be too high...yellow I think!

Kyle and Mrs Mix, hope you feel better soon.

Laser treatment on eyes...would love to have it done but need to persuade myself that I can stand the hassle, I have an astygmatism too and some sort of excessive 'dimple' according to ophtalmatist...had a phone call this pm to say that I can collect new specs to-morrow, hate getting used to new prescription but needs must, can't see wonderfully well with current ones and lens' are starting to fall out.

Five loads of washing done, beautiful day here so they have all gone out and four are dry....can't think about the ironing, to-morrow is another day!

mmmmmmmChelsea flower show....one year I'll get there.

Hugs to all and hope that you all have a nice relaxing evening...time for soaps!

    6oz butter/marg
    6oz dark soft brown sugar
    60z porridge oats
    7oz plain flour
    pinch of salt
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    4oz jam

Lightly grease an 8" square baking dish (I use my ceramic "Lasagne" dish as it's microwave safe)
Cream the fat and sugar together.
Stir in the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Press half of the mixture into the baking dish.
Melt the jam in the microwave for 30 secs and then spread the jam over the base.
Crumble on the remaining oat mixture, pressing it down lightly.
Bake in the microwave for 7 minutes (full power).
Cut into squares and cool in the baking dish.

Extra Note: - These can also be made using mincemeat (good for leftovers after Christmas ;) ) marmalade, lemon/orange/apple curd and even chocolate spread!

Yes, it is sad and yes, it certainly reminded me to be appreciative and grateful for what I have!!

    Ooops, kebabs ready!!!

KYLE - you can take one ibuprofen and one paracetamol together because they each fight pain in a different way; always take ibuprofen with food otherwise it's not so effective. I hope the pain goes soon (((hugs))) to you.

    Hello everyone:wave:

Well, I posted a message on here this morning - or at least I thought I did, but it seems to have disappeared into the ether!

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hello, & hugs to those who need them. I haven't been around here for absolutely ages, so it was nice to see so many familiar names still in residence!

Shall try not to disappear for such a long time again!
