Is anyone else struggling to believe the whole 'only 2 one bedrooms properties in the entire borough' claim? Because I am.

i know what my council have told me. i can apply but would be given no priority when it comes to banding as i am adequately housed and not in need
they cant put you on a list for something that doesnt exist!

You could apply and only bid on the properties you're interested in. Then if someone else bids with a higher priority they'll get it, if no one else bids then you'll get it.

Isn't that how it works now?

Nanny isn't looking in the entire borough. I'm not sure she's even looking in the entire village. Nanny seems to be restricting her search to properties she can hit with a stone thrown from her own front door.

I say "search", but Nanny hasn't even registered for re-housing and isn't prepared to consider private rent because she wants to keep the security of tenure.

I don't think moving is the solution Nanny is really looking for.

Homes for the homeless WILL be found by people giving up empty rooms.

but only if they claim benefit.
youve already as good as said that if people can afford to over occuoy by oaying their own rent ... even new tenancies...

then the homeless can go swing!

seems only benefit claimants are responsible for making people homeless ....

Why is it harsh to suggest this?

It would be a win win situation with the pensioner getting a larger flat for no extra cost and the non pensioner avoiding the HB reduction. I really can't see why you have aproblem with that, if it were possible.

so they are allowed to under occupy regardless of who pays their rent?
yet youre quick enough to spout that 'selfish bene4fit claimants' are stopping families having homes?

so only working age benefit claimants occupy homes that a family could rent? glad you clarified that

It was certainly a stroke of luck, you facing imminent homelessness, the getting offered a 2 bed ,modern, new build flat, in a remote, rural location, with hardly any social housing, exactly where you wanted.

Having won that kind of lottery, I'm sure the very modest bedroom tax will be a very reasonable price to pay to keep that 2 bed ,modern, new build flat, in a remote, rural location, with hardly any social housing.

i was more of a miracle. my ex was most put out that id 'fallen on my feet'

you only doubt what im saying because it doesnt suit your purpose.
it was a case of right place, right time.

you would rather intimate that i am lyinf rather than accept the truth for what it is.

you spout that people should help themselves and that is what i am trying to do.
but thats not good enoug and so you accuse me of trying to push homeless people out of the way.

you need to realise that the properties that are needed just arent available.
but instead you want to say that we CHOOSE not to help ourselves.
you could do with a dose of living in other peoples shoes!

But I thought that you could only go out with your PA, so why would moving to an area you don't know be a problem? You've also said that you're very isolated where you live now and it's miles away from your family and there are no employment opportunities in your town.

It's things like this that people find confusing.because i dont just go out .... friends visit me too! or does no one visit you at home?

it tends to help if they live near dont you think?

as i said .... if i moved away, it wouldnt be financially prudent to my PA. and what help is she if i live in an area that she doesnt know either?

why should peoiple have to sacrifice everything they know because they are disabled?
you seem to think that as long as i have a roof and some food then i shouldnt excpect anything more from life.

    i pity your husband.

you feed him every few hours and the rest of the time you expect him to just sit and wait for his next meal?
    no?
but thats what you want others to doi

The purpose of the HB reduction is to cut the benefits bill so obviously people who pay their own rent aren't affected. The fact that this will, in some cases, free up underoccupied housing is a beneficial side effect, as is the fact that some people will be encouraged into (more) employment.

but when people have no alternative to under occupancy it is a hostage situation.

there are not enough 1 bed properties in both the socail and provate sectors to rehome the people that need to downsize.
so some people will have NO choice even if they were forced to move.

sp shoulkd they live in a tent or carboard cox?

im re3ally not concerned with what you believe.
i live in a rural area and my only knowledge of it is the area that i have lived in for 9 years.
there are 2 1 bed private lets and 2 1 bed social housing, that until ver recently were supported housing for young people.

what you believe or disbelieve is irrelevant. because i KNOW the situation.

yiu searched yourself. you founf 2 1 bed flats above shops with outside access in villages 5 miles away. and a 2 bed house in a delapitated condition in the town where i live that was withing budget.
so dont start calling me a liar now, when you had to scratch the bottom of the barrel yourself to find something in my area
