What clause from their T&Cs are they referring to?

I have no idea - I never asked that question - I merely asked why I was not allowed 2 of them

The other option is that lots of people start making a fuss and all the fortunate ones with more than one account get them closed down

Personally I have moved on it was good while it lasted I will look for the next product on the market

    Rubbish!!!!!

This is the letter they sent!

Don't be silly. This is the letter they sent you.

And that's really all you can say with any degree of accuracy. Isn't it?

I'm not arguing the toss about it, I have no need to justify my assertion.

May be you asked the wrong question? It is correct that you are only allowed one now if you apply now - but it is not correct that old multiples must be shut down, or be downgraded.

not without a big change to the T&Cs - which might get prompted by too many people making a fuss, you are right. I somehow doubt the latter will happen though.

If you think about it, they've actually made it more difficult to force closure on those who have embraced (;)) the changes and actually set up the DDs well in advance of any dates implied/stated...especially since they don't stipulate (clearly in my opinion) that the credits must be the actual pay cheque etc.

Imagine the complaints to the FOS?...

    Dear FOS

They said I could open 3 accounts (back in 2009)...so I did.

Then they told new customers they could only open one account (when?).

Then they told me I had to set up and pay two different DDs each month...so I did.

They didn't say my credits had to be my salary cheque or BACS Direct Credit...specifically...so I didn't mandate my salary to the account...merely paid in an equivalent sum after my reasonable deductions for financial affairs managed elsewhere.

And now, after I've complied with all their T&Cs, they want to close my account and/or remove the benefits I was enjoying.

    Is this "treating customers fairly"?

    Looking forward to your reply.

It would cost them a lot more than £60 a year if us "multiple holders" all had to go to the FOS. I am quite sure they know that.
  • so has anyone tried opening up multiple reward accounts recently to cash in and have you had any luck?

Well yes, quite. By sending you 3 letters with individual accout numbers telling you exactly what to do to keep the Reward status and get the payments on each separate account, they've implicitly acknowledged that they'll keep paying. They'd look very silly now saying, well sorry about the hassle, but after all that we're going to downgrade you anyway, in fact that was actually the master plan all along.

I have a theory that one of the aims of the market modellers is to separate the customers with well-run accounts from those who're more trouble than they're worth. Juggling the requirements is a test of whether you've got your act together.

Time was when I hadn't. I still find little caches of unopened post. Gaming gets me back some of what I lost through careless stoozing. But I'm almost glad I haven't got 3 Rewards, because I may be at the limit of what I can handle without any more !!!!-ups.

They could close your accounts however, by refussing to continue you as a customer. That is in the t&cs
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to get Halifax to reinstate their reward accounts?
