So? .
Well, let's spell it out;stinktankcynic wrote: »... It's about time we had real people having an input into our lives and not public school elite, bankers and business men...
But Farage is a member of the public school elite, a banker and a business man. It's just funny the misconceptions some people have about things.0 -
All votes are protest votes. If you vote for the cons, you are protesting against labour policy and vice versa.
It really doesn't matter which way you spin it UKIP had a big win yesterday, and it was a victory for common sense.
It's certainly put some people's nose out of joint, the bitterness coming from some tory councilors (well, ex councilors) is unbelievable.
They're all saying it's a protest vote too.
Besides, if you attract enough protest votes, you get to form a government.0 -
I stopped going to pubs a long time ago because of the smoking.I would defend the right of those that don't like it not to use the place.
I prefer choice to being told what I can or cannot do.
I also am an ex smoker.
Itruly believe smoking and non smoking establishments would have been the ideal solution.
I've recently started going to one or two, so the ban took a while to filter (ha!) through to me.
If it was re-introduced, then I would just not go.0 -
.....Eventually, when the media scrutinises its policies we will get more analysis of the following type:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/apr/30/ukip-manifesto-closer-look?CMP=twt_fd
Lower tax and more spending for all – Ukip's easy promises might seem appealing, but the figures don't bear scrutiny
Mmm, where have I heard that before? Oh yes, now I remember, just about every Labour Party manifesto since 1994.:)0 -
In my view, UKIP have no depth of talent. We have had various members of Labour, and Conservatives (and even LibDems) on TV talking about UKIP, but only Nigel Farage (who I like), and perhaps the woman that came second in the Eastleigh election. Until we know more about their candidates and their policies, and they come into the public arena for scrutiny by the media, I will reserve judgment.0

What, not go to pubs?
What UKIP are saying is that the landlord of the pub should be able to choose whether to offer a designated smoking room or not.
For those without such facilities, they would be able to make the whole establishment smoking or none smoking.
Surely if you don't like smoking, you simply wouldn't go into a pub that offers smoking? You wouldn't go and sit in the smoking room?0 -

They're still an irrelevant party which attract more than their fair share of racists, fruitcakes and loons.
And their position as a protest party is significantly weaker than that of many previous protest parties, such as the SDP (remember them?), the Greens (now where did they go?) and especially the Lib Dems, who unlike UKIP actually won a significant number of MP seats but are currently heading for electoral oblivion.
In 10 years we'll still be in Europe and UKIP will be a distant memory.
In the meantime, we can continue to laugh at them.:)
OK. You seem quite confident in your predictions.
Trouble is, you predicted that wouldn't even make a mark on British politics.0 -
Sure - not go to a pub where there was smoking in the general areas.Graham_Devon wrote: »What, not go to pubs?

Yer - so you have made a choice. Nothing wrong with that. The landlord of the pub loses your business.
Landlord makes a choice. You make a choice.
Everyone wins. (Unless the landlord makes the wrong choice!!)0 -
They are made up of unreconstructed bigot's who still use 'coloured' to describe a black person...shameful!:(
Hardly - that was an old fashioned woman who clearly means no harm.
On the other hand, since you keep trying to dig for dirt on UKIP (and failing miserably) check out the latest rape allegations for the conservatives;

Corr blimey there is a turn up for the book eh Moby?0
