If you have a number of years NI already or of an age where you know you will have 35 years when you reach retirement age Id not bother if you think you can get a job in 6 mths.

To sign on for the NI alone of not worth it in my eyes

Totally agree, but only got about 22 years contributions. But I will ring my provider and tell them I won't be attending.

How many years left at work then?

No you have to sign off - if you are singing you have to go, no?

Only the DWP can tell you not to go.

I think I have about 29 years left, from what I have read on the dwp site, claiming only NI credits the work programme is voluntary.

So you are 38 years old?

You still only need 30 years NI to get a state pension so you will be ok

You need to go to the JC and tell them and they will then write to the provider to pull you from it

You do NOT need to attend the Work Program. You are being bullied and if you don't have the confidence to confront the bully's go to the CAB and get them to defend you.

The problem is that most of the DWP staff, and the people working for the "Providers" believe that anything they say is the law, IT IS NOT.

    AP007

You need 35 years IN credits now for a full pension entitlement, (as of 2017, I think)

I think I see the misunderstanding...

You may, as far as the DWP is concerned, be on the Work Program, BUT, you don't need to attend and you don't need to do anything they put on their "steps to success" forms, in other words, they can't issue you with directions.

I would continue to sign on for the stamp, and remain "engaged" with the system because you don't know what is down the line.

Firstly I would like to thank you for all the information it's invaluable.

I will go to the jobcentre in the morning to inform them I will not be attending the provider. I will continue to sign for my stamp, for what use the work programme was to me I will be well rid of it.

I would go to the CAB first and get them on side.

You will no doubt be threatened with a sanction, and you will have to go through the process of getting it overturned.

But, as you can see for yourself, it is written in the rules there, as clear as day.

Well I signed on today and mentioned the link you gave me and guess what the adviser knew nothing about it, she went to her manager and she knew nothing about it. She was going to look into it and let me know. She did look at the link and said she or the other adviser haven't been told anything and that it was right.

The adviser also told me I should go to the appointment at my provider just to be on the safe side. But she said to me that I can't see why you are going as we/they can't sanction anything as I am not getting anything.
