But then like we have all said here if its a placement where staff are paid there then the unemployed person should be paid too.

    I could not agree more.

It really is hard to believe that this is happening in Great Britain.

    North Korea, yes, but Britain?

    Shameful.

Why a charity? I do not support any and they are none round here. How are the going to take on over 2000 people in one borough
Well this is funny, when New Labour introduced the FND (Flexible New Deal) the Tories when ballistic over the massive costs, from the opposition benches, the scheme cost five billion a year to run, iirc. The places I attended were MASSIVE office blocks, right in the centre of the Cities, and they were still packed to the rafters. Of course, it soon became clear that the entire thing was a scam, the workfare providers made gigantic profits and many palms were greased and a lot of the money found it's way back to the people in parliament.

The Taxpayer paid tens of billions for a scheme that did NOTHING to help people into work, nor trained them, in fact, the scheme deliberately stopped people from getting training or education, because all the funds the government had went into profit for the likes of A4e.

BUT, Now the Tories are in power, they can see the merit of workfare!

I have just re-read the letter I got from my provider they quote that even signing for NI credits will be mandatory to attend now. So guess the rules have changed. Still finding it hard to get motivation to go there again, especially now I don't get any benefit at all.

I think they need to refer to their Provder Guidance....

    Credits only = Voluntary particiption.

    Credits only = Voluntary particiption.

It states on letter Jobseeker allowance(schemes for assisting persons to obtain employment) regulations 2013.

It states if without good reason you fail to attend or participate in the work programme, your jobseekers allowance and national insurance credits will be stopped(or will be paid at a reduced rate.

I was wondering if things had changed since then as I noticed the link is from september 2012.
  • There has been no change to the requirements for a credits only participant since that memo.;)

Provider guidance has been updated to reflect that memo.

Chapter two section 6 is what you need to refer to.

I started the work programme claiming income based jsa, I return only claiming NI credit would this effect my participation.

I have had a change of circumstances which doesn't enable me to claim income based jsa, so I can voluntarily leave the work programme.

Why are you now only on NI credits? You saved ££ when working?

If you have a number of years NI already or of an age where you know you will have 35 years when you reach retirement age Id not bother if you think you can get a job in 6 mths.

To sign on for the NI alone of not worth it in my eyes
