I couldn't find a hairdresser in my town that would cut my (just past shoulder length) hair for less that £45
Gave up, bought hair scissors in boots and now do it myself using the ponytail method (http://www.howtohairgirl.com/category/ponytail-techniques)
If I had the money, I think I would treat myself to a professional haircut and colour but the prices they charge are equivalent to what I spend on clothes in a year!0 -
Ive been going to the same hairdressers for a couple of years now,
By a salon stylist at a cost of £40. Now she has been promoted and to a Senior Stylist and the cost has gone upto £46. SAME wash, cut and blow dry. Nearly gave up going, but have a reward card so every 5th or 6th appointment will be free.
All Hair salons round here are about the same price.
Someone care to explain why my stylist is charging more just because she's been promoted?
I dont tip her anymore either. I can just about afford £46. If she's promoted again thats it, no more.0 -

I wonder how much of that £46 actually goes to the hairdresser, and how much just goes to the profits of the salon. I think the reasoning behind charging more is that the hairdresser is more experienced. In the past I have had a £40 haircut (at a well-known, expensive chain of hairdressers) and a £12.50 one at a bog-standard salon and honestly the latter was a better cut than the more expensive one. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. My S.I.L flew up from Southampton for a visit a while back and taking into account the air fare AND the haircut it was still cheaper than when she has it cut down south!!Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

I pay £28 for a cut and that seems reasonable where I am, although a home hairdresser would be less.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I have a choice at my salon. Beginners from £16.50 for but & blo dry.
My last one was £28.50 and the cut was better quality.
I colour my hair myself. £2 permanent colour.
It's a lot at a salon but they do ever section individually so it is labour intensive.0
