Just while we're on the subject of haircuts, what's the usual tip? I'm taking my teenage son to the local small town but reasonably smart salon tomorrow for a total restyle, he's going to get about a foot of hair cut off. All his pals go there but tbh I've no idea how much it's going to be for this somewhat major cut, it depends how many pairs of scissors she breaks I suppose. But what's the deal on tips these days? 10%? I haven't set foot in a hairdresser's for my own hair for ten years, my sister trims it for me.Val.0

I pay £35 quid for a cut and blowdry with highlights (foils) or £45 for 2 colours, but lately Ive been getting them done with groupon offers so its been about £22-27, keep an eye out on groupon or living social or similar low cost sites, you get a lot of hairdressers who do offers on there.0

are you supposed to tip?
Well, it used to be almost obligatory, given the low wages hairdressers used to get. The only exception was if it was the salon owner iirc. I was kind of assuming it was still the norm but as I said, I haven't been to a hairdressing salon in ten years.

I go to my local college, they have a Francesco Group franchise type salon, i pay £8 for wet cut & blow dry with level 2 student and £12 for same but with level 3 student, you can request which you want, but i usually go for level 2, they are very good and tutors are constantly watching.
Maybe worth checking out a local college??0 -
Supercuts is around £14 for a dry cut.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

I get my hair cut and coloured once a month and pay £42 rounded up to £45. I know it's extortionate but I have a very short elfin crop dyed dark brown (my natural colour is ash blond) and it grows incredibly quickly. Definitely at least 1 cm a month.0

I hate having my hair/head fiddled with, so I really dislike having it washed by a stranger. So I have just a dry cut.
My local salon charges me £10, and I usually give £4 or £5 tip as I think it's worth it, I'm always happy with the result.0 -
I pay £20 for a wash, cut and blow dry, where it is properly styled and she will also straighten it after if I want her too for this price,
A full head colour with cut and blowdry is £45.00
Endless cups of tea and biscuits are also available when in for a colour and last time I was there they even gave me lunch at no extra cost.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480
