Help buyer demanding partial refund and threating to neg if i dont give it

Hello, I would urge you to IGNORE everything the person types, OPEN a live chat for instant help from ebay just now (its open 24/7) ,DESCRIBE the messages as being harassment and illegal as they break the law under the Malicious Communications Act 1998, and copy and paste as the rep will ask you to show them the abusive words that constitute it being an offence.
ANYTHING that threatens or menaces you or is racist is cyber bulling and some areas, classed as stalking. YOU need to do this and then ebay can investigate this nasty person. They wll receive a warning and any feedback with offensive wording can also be removed via the "extortion" route, if you open a live chat again and keep your emails as ebay need to see them for evidence.
You have done nothing wrong and this is clearly a horrible person. The law clearly states no one should be subjected to cyber bullying so do not be intimidated and most of all DO NOT STOKE THE FIRE BY REPLYING these things can quickly escalate, a person would NOT talk to you this way in the street so do not accept it on the internet.NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself" :eek:0 -
Blimey what a muppet, all he is doing is building up a case against himself. Definitely don't reply to this fool as you won't be able to reason with him that is perfectly clear. Good luck and let us know how you get on.Win's of 2014 so far-Maxfactor mascara, £50 Pizza Express Voucher, Dr Oetker Pizza, Nuby sippy cup :j:beer:0

It makes you wonder what people are like behind closed doors. They get on the email and cannot act professionally.
I bend over backwards to help people who are nice, and I often wonder if people who are horrible realise what's happening to them in life.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Just respond in the case very clearly, pointing facts out I.e:
- item description clearly states not gold
- buyer emailed on <date> and was told not gold.
- buyer won auction and you sent message asking I'd they wanted to cancel as it was not gold as clearly stated. Buyer declined.
- threat of negative unless 90% partial refund given
Etc...
Don't waffle - just put facts!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Ebay and forums like these seem to attract hostile people who type in a venomous way never thinking anything more of it when they push the submit button, but it is the year 2013, and the police can and do get involved when cyber abuse takes place.
If OP complains to the police under the malicious communications law, and he/she prints those emails they will be shown to the sender and labelled as exhibits and numbered, the sender would be interviewed at a police station and have to explain themselves. Would he still be so aggressive then?
Behind the typing is some saddo with nothing better to do with their time but try and con money and think up scams . Goodness knows why but you can avert all this by never replying, as a one sides argument cant really go anywhere, when someone angry and rude gets no reply they will go away and trouble someone else.
Do keep your emails where they said they intend to ruin your feedback score as it they have incriminated themselves by doing that in writing. All this from costume jewellery, the mind boggles.NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself" :eek:0 -
If the item sold for £60, I'd be interested to know the true value. If the OP thought it was far enough out to say "are you sure you want to pay £60, it's not gold, you know?"
Best outcome is the buyer ends up paying £60 for a ten quid item.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Yes, I'm sure we've all thought that, but what is this buyer thinking, ... I'm going to buy something on the complete off-chance it could be gold (and the seller doesn't know it) when it's probably not and then take it out on the seller and not take any of the risk?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. yep ebay are very fair and if you take pictures and bring your case up with proof of conversation you should be ok0

Sounds like they cleaned it with gold/metal cleaner - and stripped the gold off. What a pair of idiot they must be.
Never thought i wuld hear the words Ebay AND fair in the same sentence.0 -

Too be honest, I dis-agree. 99% chance Ebay will side with the buyer, and tell him to send it back for a full refund. Ebay do not read buyer / seller messages. I am very sure the original poster will write back and say Ebay sided with the buyer. I do not think Ebay read messages exchanges between buyer and seller. The seller only has a chance of winning this if he phones (not e-mails or uses useless Live chat) and gets onto someone in Dublin who will actually read the messages Otherwise Ebay will side with the buyer.0
