Got mine.......and the web browser works!!! Been on this site on it :):)
    Happy days :)

Got mine too (ordered through Isme*). And yes the browser does work, though it was hard work to find it!

Re the browser issue - probably of no interest to most people (as no need for browser if just using as e-reader) but I've now rooted it using info from here (http://www.babblingengineer.com/how-to/how-i-turned-my-nook-into-an-e-reader-monster/) to enable a better browser experience. It now has all the Nook stuff plus a browser option from start-up, though I doubt I'll use the browser much - just wanted to get an easier way into it!

Now waiting for my PIN number from the County Library to try out the ebook lending service...

*ETA -ref elsien's note above about their Very one with £15 discount, my Isme one had £10 discount and free del so total was £19... All to do with a 'first order on a credit account'. Very etc no longer list the £15 elsien mentions but I think Isme still offer the £10 on their front page... Try this link to the Nook on Isme - the discount is mentioned under the menu line... http://www.isme.com/e/q/nook.end?cm!!!!!o&_requestid=228414

    What?!

    Tell me more....:D

If you look towards the beginning of this thread there's a promotional code for new customers, but you have to apply for their credit account to get it. I gave my usual false dob and got turned down, so I tried again with a different email and correct dob and got accepted. Still paid by CC so there's no interest or anything. They charge the full amount then recredit the CC once it's gone through. They did clock I'd bought from them before donkeys years back, but still accepted the code as it's so long since I bought anything.
The only downside is I'm skint and meant to keeping away from the grabbits altogether as it's costing me a fortune. Never could resist a bargain.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • This is perfect for me, my local library has really gone down hill recently and I really didn't want to shell out tons of money on an e-reader. Most of the reviews I've seen are pretty positive. Grabbed a spare one for the OH's birthday too.

I got that as well, I think they were refusing any orders that didn't create accounts.
I have just ignored it as I re-ordered yesterday after creating an account. Got a "pre-dispatch" ack but no dispatch date yet.

Snap. They need to get their skates on, I'm getting impatient now lol

    I need a quick "Idiots Guide":o:o

I don't use WIFI at all, so how would I get books onto the Nook?

If you do download books via WIFI, do you have to plug the Nook into the router or something?

Sorry, but I am a techno dinosaur;).

2 sitting on our doormat when we got home earlier. Currently on charge.

Will load a few books on, and give to the kids on bank holiday. can't wait to see their faces!

At £15 each from Very, I'm so tempted to open a 2nd credit account and get one for OH and I, but like he says, we probably won't use it! But they're such a bargain!!!!!

That's an amazing price, how did you manage to get them for £15? I just looked on their site and it says £29:(

I've been in touch with a Sainsburys store, and they seem to think the larger Sainsburys stores might have them in stock. If you have one near you it might be worth a call to them.

Thanks, I will have a look tomorrow. Got cashback through TCB but it's not worth it if Blackwells are too much of a faff to deal with!

Very easy. You get a USB cable with it - plug this into the nook and your PC. Then, you can open the Nook's drive up on your PC (go to my computer and find NOOK).

Then copy .epub files into the right place (think it's My Files/Books).

    Thank you.

Once you have transferred the books onto the Nook, can you delete them from the computer rather than clog up the hard drive with lots of books?
