Good Mornjng all.. What a glorious day!! I'm at my train station awaiting the first train of the day to hit yet another overtime shift. I feel blessed.. I was desperate for a certain amount if hours and hey presto people got sick.. Lol!.. Kidding.. I don't wish for that but I was seriously starting to panic ..
So day 8 of 19 in a row sees me with home made butter biscuits that I lovingly spread with melted chocolate last night! I have 4 with me for a 12 hour shift and enough for three a day forthwith until Thursday I think! More soup today but sometime we get the odd sandwich and apple if we are on OT so I will save my soup..
Siouxsie those burgers look scrummy!! I'm gonna do a mini shop (was supposed to be today) for bits tomorrow! I feel like its a splurge with £9 whole pounds for 7 days cause I've been living on pittance recently and LOVING IT!!! I know u do to though..:-))..
Jonesy careful with those food fairs they can be a right rip off.. One investment is "Carved Angel" chutney.. It might be my treat for the month. I chose it at the Ideal Home Show .."Gunpowder" a garlic chilli...They sell it on their website for £3.99 but postage is £6.95..??? But if they have a sample stall try everything.. Lol!!.. Sorry getting off track! Have a lovely day!!
More soon folks.. My train is coming and if I lose this post in a 'dead zone' I'd cry...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Morning all,
We're off out all day today... It's hubby's birthday and he wants to go visiting family. It's a bit of a drive but we're not staying over so early start and late finish likely.
I'm hoping for another SFD - the car was filled with petrol yesterday and I've just been busy packing lunches for us for the journey - we'll get fed there as well...
So I'll be quiet today but back to check in later tonight or tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
Quick delurk to update. Had a lovely weekend. THE LUNCH was way too expensive (but hubby loved it and it was great to get the family together) but hubby gave some of birthday money towards it. I'll definitely join in June again as we're officially in debt again
and I'll also now include hubbies debt (did it so far based on just me) and I'll rope him in more and he's willing to cut down.
Did a grocery shop yesterday and shouldn't need anything till Sat morning apart from maybe a pint of milk.
I'll work more on my numbers for June.....
Relurk
EDIT: Hubby got a letter through from one of his PPI claims and he'll get about £1000 back :j:j:j. Not sure how long it'll take but that money will go straight to his dad towards paying off the 2 grand we owe him.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

!!!!!! Couldn't find my Oyster Card this morning and was in a rush so had to buy a ticket-ouch!! Nice day though so being out and about today's not all bad.
I can report the burgers and muffins were a success! Both yummy (not bad for my first baking attempt!). I got some nice asparagus yesterday so I'll rustle up something with that for dinner tonight-risotto maybe?
Enjoy the Bank Holiday everyone if you're off...and those of us who are working today, enjoy earning those pennies0 -
Hello all
Well a SFD yesterday but will need to shop later as on 3 nights starting tonight. Hopefully just some fruit veg and rice needed so not a massive spend I hope. Also need to buy 2 birthday presents which are budgeted for, but a tad belated.
I had a lovely weekend but need a slap around the earholes for spending too much and buying a new top and flip flops. It was my friends 40th birthday celebrations, so on friday I bought her lunch and then we had tea out. And on Saturday I bought a few bits towards her barbie......
Did another bank shift yesterday to earn some extra cash and I have 3 booked for June. Looking forward to June as one of my CCs has it's 0% interest ending so will be paying off the entire balance then. Ive been saving the money in my bank account to earn me interest and just paying the minimum amount each month. the downside is my bank account is not going to look healthy:(.

I spent £14 on foundation this month. Accidentally chucked it out with it's packaging...:mad::mad::mad:... So so angry it's unreal. But I need it... More shall be purchased at some point since I didn't need it to pay for the student loan... Just so angry with myself.:mad::mad:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. StationarySpender this is avery honest portrayal and very interesting. Can you tell us a little more - when did you realise you do this and how are you planning to tackle it...?
Apologies now, for the really long answer to these questions but I feel it would be rude to be asked a question and not answer!
I grew up in a family of money savers and super budgeters. My parents home is filled with gorgeous expensive things which they got on sale and there has always been bragging rights and approval given over anyone who got a good deal. Growing up, I can't think of a time anyone had paid full price for something and as children we were brought up to know that we bought clothes and gifts in the sales. The first question when anyone came home (or still comes home) with bags is - how much did you pay and was it in the sales? However, now we live in a period where sales (and my personal nemesis eBay) are more common and so instead of waiting 6 months for something I liked to be reduced, by which point I worked out whether I really needed it or not - I now impulse buy, but convince myself that as it is 75% or 80% off, I have got a good deal.
Following the purchase of the wardobe - I am coming round to realising that actually this super shopping is almost like an addiction, and one which is supported, fuelled and enabled by my family. My sister is the only one who has broken away from my family's way of thinking, as to everyone's horror, she pays full price for things!! As she points out, she buys less than all of us and so relatively speaking, she saves more money by having a small collection of things she uses to death, than us with our multiple 'reduced' items where we have so much we don't know what to do with them all!
How I am going to plan to tackle it is through (ironically) my Mum's saying - "what you don't see you won't miss". So...staying away from ebay (and my saved searches), and staying away as much as possible from shops. June is a completely chocker month for me with birthdays, holidays and work things, so it should be relatively easy for me to avoid shopping. The painful part will be the June sales at the end of the month but I am sure that I can do it by decluttering the stuff I already have and by sorting, storing and using all the 'bargains' I no doubt receive for my birthday!!:rotfl::idea:LBM @1/4/13 £15,754
