    Evening All,

Tues & Wed were spent free days :) today spent £1.60 on milk and a cuppa at lunch with a friend but did sit and eat my packed lunch :).

Have the task of shopping for car insurance to sort, cheapest is £600/650 :(.

    Eh xx

Mrs Toast - when you say "until the end of the month" does that mean you won't be shopping AT ALL until June?

Grocery spends hopefully :D. I did go to Tesco this afternoon but after coupons and a couple of small tesco clubcard vouchers, paid absolutely nothing :j. I have £7 of Sainsburys points that I only ever use for emergency shopping that I can use if necessary but I'm hoping not.

I've had quite a bad week spend wise as I've managed to get my son's cold so feel rotten. I've also got my anti-D injection and glucose tolerance test both tomorrow morning. The parking at the hospital is already budgeted for but we may all go out for lunch after. I do have some of the cash from getting rid of clutter left to go towards that so not all bad.

I've been thinking about June's budget andmay well up the grocery budget by £20 as we're just not able to do it for £30 a week on a long term basis. I'd like to build up the pantry and our 2 freezers before our baby arrives so that needs some spending.

It seems like everyone is having a busy week so I hope we all have a great bank holiday weekend even if it's not as dry/sunny as we hope.

I'm here too  I agree with Mancman, this page keeps me sane too. Even when I don't post, I'm often lurking in the background loving everyone's tales.

Re the spiders - many years ago, I had to call my boyfriend (now ex, don't think it's related to this incident) and [STRIKE]ask[/STRIKE] tell him to drive from his work to save me because there was one in our kitchen. 20 minutes later he appeared and laughed at me because the thing was already dead! Oh, I have many stories about them but I prefer to pretend they don't exist.

No spends for me over the last few days. I still have just under £10 in my shopping budget. A few fresh veggies at the weekend and that'll be me so I hope to end the month with some money in the Food budget. I'm also starting to wonder if we've bitten off more than we can chew Kat with our £50 self imposed challenge. You seem to be way more organised than me. I'll be like the girl in the Daily Mail article that lives on porridge during the last week of the month :D

I have a whopping £36.74 in my misc budget :j Knowing I had so much left, I suggested a potential night out with a friend on Tuesday. Then, I booked a hairdresser visit for Tuesday morning which will cost £33 so maybe I'll have to suggest to my friend that he comes to mine for dinner or something instead of going out - oops!

Everhopeful, keep shopping around. My renewal quote was £540 but I eventually got a policy for £164, with £25 cashback :D

Oh, and hi to DueSouthTwin2 :D Interesting name....

It sounds like you are unsure when you say "may well" up the budget. What kinda of things would you like to build up.. and may I say I would LOVE to have a pantry so I am a little jealous!:o..do you have a chest freezer as well?

Hello chickadee! Well now.. I have exactly £10 in my budget as well and I am refusing to spend it. DST is here and we are chatting over tea ( and I am being rude and talking to you instead ).. I might use the last of this months budget to be my emergency £10 but I may need milk shortly... cause we have had a few gallons of tea each!:T

Red lentil, carrot and chilli garlic soup made along with 12 miniscule banana muffins. That should do me until at least Tuesday. I still have my veggie sausages and pitta bread and some cashew nuts...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

However... this self imposed £50 is for me. You don't have to do this with me but I wonder what people in a limited income do - they get by I am sure! You and I have the knowledge and power to plan, cook and make it healthy.

Check my thread I have listed what's on the shopping list so far. This is a preliminary list as I will do a stock take before I go out again.

Jack Monroe is doing the "Under the Line Challenge" again which is £5 for 7 days. Although depressing lone term I am sure there is a lesson in this - although it's addictive so perhaps I am getting thoroughly obsessed.

In June I have no choice. I need a certain amount going to the bike loan. I have done no OT for extra money so everything is down to a bare minimum...

    I am a little scared. £12.50 a week.

I am unsure as on the one hand I'd like to put more of my money to savings but on the other I need to prepare. I'd like to have plenty of tinned veg, pasta, cereal, soups etc. Things that I can use to make quick meals really. We don't have a chest freezer but we do have a small freezer in the outhouse as well as the one in the kitche. We've also got shelves in the outhouse for extra pantry items like the 'free' Five Beanz and 15p tinned pears from a while ago :D. Baby things would also be useful like nappies, wipes and toiletries.

Ok, I will put it up for June and see how we go.:rotfl:

Nope, I'm definitely in! I need washing powder and washing up liquid so I think I'l use the last of this month's food budget for that, plus a few yellow sticker veggies over the weekend. Then I'll be ready to roll! You're right, I'm great at the planning and saving (and finding ways to get things for free!) so yes, bring it on!!!

Kat, have I missed something? I thought the bike loan is gone?

I can make 30 healthy if a little repetitive dinners for the three of us on £50 - like I have said before its the snacks and dietary requirements stuff that blows my budget up. But I think just me I could have a good shot at £50 a month for three healthy meals a day - would take some imagination though!
