    Hello all,

Been awol this weekend, sorry. Will catch up on all your news shortly.

Saturday was shopping day. Spent £120 of a weekly budget of £80, hmmm... but did buy some food to take on holiday with us and stocked up on cat food so they have enough for this week, next week and a few days after we come back. SO I suppose I could say I've spent half of next week's budget on stuff for next week ;)

Sunday was a SFD. Hubby is on overtime duty this week so no plans to go out at all. Do need to pop to Mr Ts on way home for a few bits (£5 max I reckon)

Meeting with mortgage lad (he was soooo young) went well but we're going to have to save up 10% deposit not the 5% the independent mortgage woman stated. Reckon it's possible between us both within 18months.

    Back to work for me!

Hi everyone, I know Ive been MIA for some time, but what with new baby GC and my DD2 and family staying over I have been busy, busy, busy, BUT Im back on the wagon now and tonight I will redo the budgets for the rest of the month and take stock of what I have in the cupboards:) I know my food budget is a bit over but I don't really need much for the rest of the month, just milk and fresh veggies.

I have had about 5 SFD's so far but that's because we went on one big food shop and when we have eaten out I haven't been the one paying:)

My new DGD is fine and growing well, 18 days old today but DD3 is starting to feel housebound and has been looking into baby groups etc. DD2 is now back home in the sun, she really felt the cold this time, as the day before she was going around in bikini top and shorts and then comes over here:)

Well I will try to catch up on everybody's posts over the next few days and try to clock up more SFD's oh and I managed to over pay my CC's by £90, which is very good for me:T

So I hope everyone is well and fighting debt!!!

Jonesy is that what u meant by a death stare...:rotfl:.. I'm interested in what context a person would receive such a look?? Please regale a story.. I like stories..

My death stare is something i learnt from my mum. Just 1 look when i was little could silence me... Now i have perfected it for a work environment - ask me an uber stupid question? Death Stare. Steal a chocolate from our desk when we don't know you? Death Stare. Somebody queue-jumping for the canteen microwaves? Death Stare.

It works well :). My previous work colleagues got to know i meant business (in a light hearted way) :)

Today was a SFD and i'm half-way to my money made target :D

  • Evening all, pretty quiet weekend so 2 NSDs/SFDs clocked up on Saturday and Sunday.

Today I bought a drink in the cafe at college :o but again this is stoking the fires of possible work in the future so not too bad at all. Cost = £1.80

I filled up with fuel too, cost £28. I had some expenses back for a gig I did last weekend so that's paid for some of it.

My GHDs are on the blink, couple of years ago I would have just bought new ones but I put a shout out on FB to borrow some while I see about getting mine repaired. The borrowed pair arrived today :j

Spend Free day for me, which to be honest, it needs to be. I am well aware that between now and the end of June, I have so many spend commitment days that I need to ensure that on days that I can save, I do!
So nice seeing everyone's news - welcome back Nannygladys, hope that you've been having fun with your new granddaughter & family. LAGL & Thriftylass the stories of your son at sunday school and your son's birthday party were too cute! Wish I could still go to parties with bouncy castles!
Good luck Kat with your kitchen cupboards...wow, that's meal planning to a whole new level!

    Evening all...

Joined the Halifax today, got my new reward account and £100 already in there!!!:T:T:T..I can withdraw it tomorrow and BOOM goes the Bike Loan.

Did a little shop today so it was not an SFD. Spent £7.15 in Morrisons today. And 98p in B&Q. I actually feel a little guilty. I didn't need the 35p chocolate, nor the 45p plain flour as it turns out.. or the 59p assorted crisps x12. And here I am saying I will use what I have.. what I did need were the herbs..basil, parsley and thyme plants which will live on.. fresh corriander which won't and 8 wholemeal baps for 30p courtesy of the yellow sticker section...and milk, cause I can't live too long without tea and don't want to break another SFD for another week. In B&Q I got a chilli plant. I am going to make him big and strong and make him last forever..

So I have been cooking to make up for my naughty blunder...

Falafel and Mixed Beans with a little onion, freshly bought coriander and cumin x 8..(stuffed one in my face too fast after making it and I actually think I have blisters on the roof of my mouth)..
Banana Cake - should make 8-10 good size slices.
11 oatmeal cookies waiting to go in..(yes it should be 12, not sure where the other one went:rotfl:)..
Tabbouleh (quinoa with tomato and flat leaf parsely) with spiced lentils..

Should sort me until the weekend when I will hit the lemon drizzle cake and cous cous or something.. Feel stuffed even thinking about it all..:rotfl:

NannyG glad to have you back with us and even better that the little one if getting big and strong. I am sure your daughter has had enough of the house now and wants to show the little one off..is this her first or has she another little..? Looking forward to hearing about the numbers once recalculated..

LionHeartedGirl - what gig? What do you do? Tell me tell me..?? That is BRILLIANT that you were able to borrow a pair of GHD's... don't be tempted to get a pair on eBay.. a friend of mine did and had customs on her door for importing illegal goods from China...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.. I have a pair by Hair Tools and they have been going since 2003.. although my hair is very fine and will wilt if you look at it sideways...:rotfl:

Okay waffling now... I am watching Skint..anyone else..?

Hi everyone, small spend today £2 contribution for team tea kitty. But cheap tea of veg lasagne using old veg in fridge and store cupboard stuff.

Buffy - what an amazing, life-changing decision. Rosiecheeksblossom, angelpye and mrstoast - sending hugs to you all.

Jonesy - I had to apologise to a fellow plot holder's dad for my moose induced yelp! I'm normally so calm too ;-) how did you make £250 so far this month? That's good going.

It's lovely to see you back nannygladys, and good to hear how your DGD is getting on.

NSK, I saw the link to Jack Monroe's blog on your diary thread yesterday and was glued to it. Jack is truly an inspiration and has made me think totally differently about food shopping as well as being more creative with the food I've got.

Thanks for the lowcostliving link, I'll check it out tonight. I love our allotment and want it to be as productive as possible so access to courses via our local environment group are brilliant. Maybe your landlady will let you use the spare area to grow your onions and tomatoes would prob be happy on your windowsill. Hope poor Mog has gotten over foxy loxy this morning.

I always resort to putting food shopping on the cc towards the end of the month so hope by cooking and shopping smarter I won't have to this month.

And kedgeree is a jumble of softened onion, turmeric, curry powder, rice, cooked and flaked smoked fish like haddock and chuck some hard boiled egg wedges on top. Think it's a love it or hate it dish :-)

Tomorrow I'm going to try using up a packet of orzo tomorrow for dinner. I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi all, my item I paid £20 for went for £40 plus postage but its in great condition and usually costs £110 new but I bought it from an outlets without a certain part and for the part for it so quite pleased although noticed some going at £60 ish still good profit as we used it twice thenup in the loft for two years :)

Nsk - did your know bananas are an egg substitute so eggs not needed in bananna cake? I make a nigella recipe for bananna and butterscotch muffins which is with veg oil (another egg substitute) but used smashed up lidl dark chocolate and put in a loaf tin adding a little extra oil in the mix than calls for. Comes out fine if sometimes a little less light. Found this out quite recently after having mashed bannnas before finding out no eggs in house (madam two yogurts!) And googled replacements. Feel like I have been done out of dozens of eggs!!!

Also have seen jacks blog - very inspiring and madam two yogurts says w should try it - not sure she realises she won't be able to have two yogurts though ;)

Three overtime shifts in the bag so halfway to trip paid off :) life feels much easier today but probably cos my sister is meeting me tomorrow and she is my rock :)

AuntyRuby as if by magic you have read my mind. I spoke with my LLL ( officially the Lovely Land Lady ).. we have plans to share the veg plot and work together. She is going to put up a runner bean wall for them to climb, and possibly hanging baskets for the tomatoes otherwise grow bags in a sheltered spot of the patio. Courgettes, onions etc are agreed on but there are more items to plan...any suggestions? Peppers need to be indoors or can they go outdoors?..

Either way I am very excited. I would like a lemon tree but that's never going to happen in our joyous weather..

Two slices of banana cake to LLL and her boyfriend this evening - they approve of my efforts so I am glad. Though next time I will save myself 3 eggs and just use the bananas...:p

Have been researching bread makers. My last house had one and I want another. Cheapest is about £35 but I don't want to put any money to it.... so I got on freecycle and asked for one of any brand and a lady messaged me tonight. She has one I can pick up I just need to wait until she tells me where she is...YEAH!!!! ....I like it when things come together...:T

    Right more zombies then bed....

    Onwards and Upwards!!!
