Nationwide FlexDirect £70 Quidco when switching.

Quidco are offering £70 for switching to Nationwides FlexDirect. On top of this you will get the 5% on balances up to £2500 in the first year.

"£70 Cashback - for an approved and opened new Nationwide FlexDirect account when you transfer to Nationwide from a non-Nationwide current account using their Account Transfer Service"

It doesnt say anywhere that existing nationwide customers cant open this as a seperate account and switch, if you have an account elsewhere to do so.

Forgive me, if this has been posted already!

Already holding 1 FlexDirect account, I applied for a new FlexDirect account a week or so ago, switching from a non Nationwide Account, tracked in next day with Quidco asking following day for address confirmation for transaction verification :)

Great stuff :-) . I was going to apply for a FlexDirect anyways, so this is a bonus. I already have FlexPlus. I do hope it tracks!

Hey platterfish, it would be useful to the community if you could post back later and let us know if it does track :)

I saw this thread earlier today so thought i'd give it a go (already have the flex account and flex direct). Applied via Quidco, put in the details to transfer my account from an external bank, received tracking confirmation within an hour and according to Quidco the estimated payment date is the 15th May (I'll believe it when I see it!)

Mine changed from 4th to 18th, I did put switch date 10 days on from application date though.

I'm interested in how quickly this tracks and pays - I'd like to transfer, then upgrade to the premium account.
  • Hi,

Many thanks to the OP for this post. I'd like to do this for a relative but can anyone pls tell me, if you use the account transfer service (which you must to qualify for the cashback), will Nationwide actually CLOSE the account you are switching from (Santander) or just switch the DDs etc from the other account to the new FlexDirect, leaving the Santander account open?

We don't mind switching the DDs etc., but would prefer to keep open the Santander account open.

If anyone knows and can clarify I'd be really grateful.

    Thx in advance.

All the clarification you need is on their website...

It appears they don't (currently) close the old account for you, but encourage you to do so yourself.

I think the new "one week" switching service lauded by Gideon Osborne and others, due to arrive later on this year, will close your old account automatically.

Best to ask Nationwide directly. I would do it in writing so I have proof as and when it might be needed.
