we tried to get the £49 sky+ but didnt get offered anything when we cancelled no matter what we said and how much we hinted at them offering... they just said that we'd be much better off with freeview as you get all the good channels anyway!
would've stayed if sky+ had been offered but didnt get the chance.. going with a freeview pvr now...
i wonder why it works for some people but not for others? i was assuming that the offer was over until i read people on this thread getting the deal only a few days ago!0 -
My old sky digi box finally passed away last week and after a telephone call to sky i was told it would cost me £99 +£30 installation fee for sky+.
I told them i had been with them for 15 years and have sky talk aswell but wouldn't budge on the price.
I then read what people had said on here and rang to cancel my sky subscription and sky talk because the box no longer worked and that i had gone on shifts and the girl in cancellation was really helpful, infact she said they would bend over backwards to keep there customers.
Suddenley for tonight only:question:   they have got a loyalty offer on, i can have the sky+ PVR3 box and installation for £49 only :j :j .
So you can still get something out off them just keep trying.
Thanks for the info from everyone else it really helped .:T

there must be something more specific people or doing or its random luck or its to do with they type of contract you had before or something... coz when i rang and said i wanted to cancel, all i got was "fine, you're better off with freeview anyway" from the girl at the other end... we then had 2+ weeks before the sky actually stopped and they didnt try once to get us to stay! and we would have if they'd offered us this deal!0

bacjk in August we cancelled Sky in the hope they would offer Sky + at the reduced price - no joy ...and we've been without it since - but then yesterday whilst in town noticed a stand with "sky + for new and existing sky customers...£49." Chap came over and asked if we had sky and I explained we were using the box for the freebies now as we had cancelled back in August. He told me to ring them and mention that others in the Carlisle and Whitehaven area (we're in Carlisle) had been offered Sky + for £49 or even free.......................so , rang them yesterday afternoon and asked if we were classed as "new" or "existing" customers. We were still classed as "existing" (must be something to do with how long ago you cancelled and stopped paying I think). I mentioned I had seen the offer and asked if there was any chance, because we would have stayed with them back in August if this had been offered. No problem - its coming to be installed this next Tuesday...............she says its a new box and as long as there is a phone line nearby its no problem. Well pleased ...OK we didn't get it free or have months reduced - but we have exactly what we wanted back in August and have saved a few months charges too (just as well the rugby world cup had been on ITV - otherwise there could have been problems with OH!).0 -
I got Sky+ installed for free for £49 yesterday after following the advice from a member of another forum. I was advised to email Sky and not call the customer service department.
The OP said that the first email will always come back with a computer generated standard reply and to email again asking for a personal response addressing the points made in the complaint of the first email. After this you should get a phone call from the Cancellations Department and if you explain what the problem is and ask them to answer your questions with regard to your complaint you are usually offered Sky+ for £49.
I made up my email templates in advance and gave it a try. Email 1 was sent on Tuesday and I received a response on Wednesday. Email 2 was sent on Thursday and I received the phonecall on Thursday night. They came yesterday (1 week later) and I'm one very happy camper. Plus I'll own the equipment after 12 months as opposed to with Virgin where it'll never be mine.
In my emails of complaint, I asked Sky to address the issue of what they do to 'retain' customers who threaten to cancel, (ie £49 for Sky+) and why they don't employ good practices in keeping existing customers happy. I didn't ask for the offer or mention any promotions that are available, and more importantly, I clearly stated that I had no intention of wanting to cancel - yet... (Those who have done that seemed to get nowhere)
I can't say it'll work for everyone, and some people have managed to get the same thing by phoning Sky and threatening to cancel, but this has worked for quite a few people including myself, and we didn't have to pick the phone up once!!!! :TOGB - Queen of Bling baby...:A0 -
I have watched everyone going for cheap Sky+ boxes when I have found the main problem with Sky is the rubbish shown on it. I cancelled back in august and wish I had cancelled ages ago.
