I'm moving into a new home on Friday.
I have the choice of Virgin media or Sky. I'd rather have the sky+ and see, speak & surf.
whats the chances of me getting the sky+ Box for free if I try to play them off against each other ?
Thanks

I had the original leaflet and I'm sure it says this offer is on until 17th July
Now they offer Marks and Spencers vouchers instead!! Bit of a difference there....
Going to order with Quidco now, best offer atm IMOThe main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0 -
Am I the only one who can't get a sky+ for less than £100+ inst? I've rung 4 times and each time they refuse it budge!0

Called Sky last night on the 01506 number and the cancellations team offered me Sky + at £49, I mentioned Virgin Media and they said they had some special offers currently running. I paid the £49 over the phone and they are coming to install in the next couple of weeks.
Just got a new 37 inch lcd samsung tv, so I can't wait!!
Samsung TV was from https://www.1staudiovisual.co.uk - the best price I could find and amazing service, ordered late Tuesday and delivered Thursday.

Hi everyone,
I really appreciate this website and have gleaned a lot of useful and helpful tips. So I've decided to tell you what happened to me and Sky today, in the hope that it may help somebody else.
After reading this forum I decided to give sky a ring - as I've been thinking about getting a sky+ box but didn't want to fork out money for one. So I rang customer services and just inquired how to go about canceling my subscription (£34 per month). Got put through to cancellations and when asked the reason for terminating the subscription, I just told them we were never at home when all the good stuff is on - which is partly true. Customer Service girl asked if I'd heard of Sky+, to which of course I replied - " Sky+, what's that then?!"
Well then, I just switched off for a few minutes while she babbled on about it, and then she said normally costs £160?? but we could have it for £49 with free installation. To which I said that I phoned to save money not to get rid of more! Then she went on about free weekend calls or summin, but I switched off again for a few minutes, and when I said I wasn't interested in that (we're already sorted for that one with someone else), I told her we couldn't really justify forking out more money for a service we don't really use. She then went off to speak to her manager. Guess what happened next.........
She came back and offered a Grade A Sky+ box for free, and free installation with no additional subscription fee. I did say I'd rather have a brand new box but that was a no no. She did say that we would still have received a grade A box even if we'd paid £49!! To put my mind at rest, there is a 3 month warranty and it has been full tested.
Oh, and they're installing it on Monday (today's Friday).
Also we are a bit stuffed where we live as it's Sky or Freeview at the moment, which is why I only inquired about canceling.
Hopefully this can help someone out there, but prepared for a 15 - 20 minute phone call.
Thanks again everyone

I've been following this thread for about 3 weeks now, I thought I'd post what I had found out after hours on the phone to sky, etc:
If you're a new customer and there are no (widely available) offers, then you've got no chance of getting a decent deal by calling up.
Even IF you 'only just' missed a deal by a day or so.
The best I've been offered is the sky+ box for £99 and free installation.
This is currently one of the offers on the website, so no success.
There aer Sky Kiosks in some shoping centres (I've been to the ones in Leeds, St Johns). The best they can offer is:
Sky+ box Grade A for £19
Installation £30
= £49
Or
New Sky box £49
Free installation
= £49
Which is pretty good.
But I'm looking for better.
Chatting to the guy at the kiosk, apparently you've got no chance of getting these offers by calling up, but (apparently) there are available online too.
[although he misses out on the commission!].
Quidco offer £85 back on signing up to sky......
Plus Sky are offering £10 credit for signing up online.
See where this is going?
The issue is that the Quidco referral link points to quite an OLD sky signup page. It only lets you choose between 2 or 6 mixes, plus the prices are higher (no special offers).
See here:
http://packages.sky.com/buy/?affiliate=true&CMP=AFC-UKesalesAffiliates&P36=5Q8M36&PURL=skytv.at%2Fquidco
This page lets you select how many mixes you want, etc:
http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/template.PAGE/menuitem.ad087bee9c3bd38174e73710113071a0/?javax.portlet.tpst=4870f47e2ba56f98e1a4972f113071a0&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken
So problems are:
I can't see this £49 box, plus free installation offer on the site, unless you have to enter an offer code (I'll have to go back and ask the guy at the kiosk).
If the offer is available online and you can access it through the MySky.sky.com link (above), along with Quidco's referral ID you'd get:
Sky+ for £49, free installation.
£10 credit for signing up online.
£85 cashback from Quidco.
Sky like to hide the current offers page, if anyone can't find it, its here:

£49 gets you a new box with 12m warranty0 -
£49 gets you a new box with 12m warranty
Also, the rep did say that if the box becomes faulty after the three months, Sky would try to help out. I took that with a pinch of salt to be honest, and just hope that bridge won't have to be crossed!0 -
Grrrr (that is my angry growl) Came home to find the sky+ box not receiving any signal.
Phoned the 015 no' only to be told I needed to phone a 087 no' to get through to technical team. Put the phone down and phoned back the 015 and finally got put through to someone that talked me through steps to take (put sky on standby, pull plug socket, chat sh*t in the aim of distracting me for 5mins, then plug back in) which did not work, so I now have an engineer coming out on Tuesday between 12-5 :grrrrr:
Have only had it for a month so I am not impressed at all! Thank God for my good ol' trusty freeview boxDEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0
