You could but VM Dont play the crappy sky channels, but face it, Sky One etc are hardly the biggest loss in the world, oh and not to forget the all important "Sky Travel" lol

Could you list what exclusive channels that VM have that could be a deal breaker to make people change from sky and not just the fact you can record 2 channels and watch another.. I am always open to suggestions to save money but dont really see anything better on VM.

Just called to cancel after being a loyal Sky subscriber since 1999. Gave the usual want to save money/move to Virgin. Cancellations would only stick to her guns and offer a "grade A" sky+ box for free or a new sky+ for £49 - despite saying there were some given away last month!!! Anyway she eventually confirm my 30 days notice starts today. How long does it normally take before they call back with more offers?? I would have risked them running out of refurbs but don't like my chances

phone them back and take them up on there A grade offer, we took the free offer last month and got a V2 pace took the cover off and it`s 160gb HD TWICE what a new box has (80gb yours 80gb skys`) the only benifits of having a new box is it`s smaller has "anytime" (should be called watseoftime) and it turns it`s self off, benifit of refurb FREE more storage and stable software.

Oh, thanks for that. I was beginning to think my Amstrad PVR3 was faulty because it switches itself off at night. Does it switch back on when it's set up to record something later on?

By the way, the new PVR3 boxes have 160GB HDDs. As you said, 80gb for you, 80gb for Sky. My Amstrad is a 160GB box and is a refurb (PVR3, as the PVR 2 they first gave me blew up).

How much noise does the fan make on your Amstrad and others' Thomson? Is it quiet enough?

Also I've got a 4:3 old-shape telly and usually watch 14:9. Can Sky+ appear as 14:9? My old Sky box won't - the pic appears on the telly as filling the height of the screen and cutting off large bands on the side?

Sky anytime is where sky take 80GB of your brand new 160GB box and record whatever they want on it for you to watch. Its basically like having a huge TV spam box. They will record new shows and stuff they think you MIGHT want to watch. They will also record stuff like movies even if you dont subscribe to the movies channels then you would have to upgrade to watch it.

So basically they make you pay money for a NEW 160 GB box then take half of your recording time (40 hoursfor you and them) and record what they want.

NO even if you opt out of anytime all it does is stop it recording but the boxes still take the 80GB even if you change the hard drive it automatically takes 80 GB for SKY

    Taken from the Anytime FAQ

Can I use the section of the hard drive that has been set aside for Sky Anytime on TV if I opt out of the Sky Anytime on TV Service? If not, why not?

We are continuously improving Sky+, and to enable us to make improvements and to offer you more and better services in the future we have reserved part of the hard drive on your box. Sky Anytime on TV is just the first service available to you that makes use of this reserved part of the hard drive. Because of this, even if you opt out of Sky Anytime on TV, you will not be able to use the reserved part of the hard drive to increase the storage space available to you.
