Just had mine fitted, despite complaining that I wanted a new 80gb box for free and being told that they wouldn't do it, they have just fitted a NEW 80gb Thomson box, the engineers said that they've run out of the recon boxes, so if anyone is thinking about it going for a free recon box ?, then you could be lucky !0

This might be slightly off topic but I was just wondering if someone could tell me whether when the Sky engineer comes to install Sky+, does he need to fiddle around with the satellite at all?0

The dish remains the same, but he adds a new lead (will need to drill a new hole). done in 10 mins.0 -

I somehow doubt it, it is so far up in the sky, I doubt his ladder would reach.:rotfl:0 -

My Sky engineer put up a whole new dish with new 4 port LNB. There was nothing wrong with the old dish, mind. He attached the new double digital cable and put it through the hole in the wall where my old single cable went (so no new hole needed). He then sealed the hole. Even if your dish isn't replaced, the engineer will need to put up a new LNB, as Sky+ requires two connections. Your old LNB will probably be a single connection. The new LNB will be a 4 connection LNB.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Both at my home and my parents we had completely new dishes. Also, when they called to fit Dads on friday he also had only a new 80gig Thomson on the van
Bit gutted as I got a refurb lol
Anyway, engineer told me that refurbs are in very short supply...0 -
Can confirm the Introduce a friend scheme is working on the number posted on page 25 (and probably others!) so you need to find someone who has sky - which shouldn't be that difficult - and use them as the referrer when they ask.
This gives you a new sky+ box (I assume PVR3, didn't ask but they said it would have anytime which I think means it must be) for free and free installation. I had been a previous customer, cancelled a few months ago (early march) because I had wanted to upgrade to sky+ and they wouldn't offer me a good deal even though I cancelled and followed through with it - I was disappointed they had not tried to keep me having been on their top package for 5 years and only once had I done the 'I can't afford it' trick to get 3 months for half price (thanks to this site:beer: ). I was going away for 4 weeks so was happy to let it lapse while I was away and wanted to get a decent upgrade to sky+.
I missed the original post on this for the refurb boxes which would have done nicely, but since this has expired this 'Introduce a Friend' offer seems to offer much the same thing but with a new box!
Thanks again to OP and whoever pointed out the Introduce a friend offer first.

I am SO peed off rihgt now!
Just called Sky and asked for the cancellations dept and said I wanted to cancel. Been with SKy approx 7 years now so well out of contract, OR SO I THOUGHT!! I opened a Broadband account with them a couple of months ago, didn't get the 3 for £26 deal as 'they didn't have any left' in my area (!). So, as far as I was concerned I had two separate accounts with Sky one for Broadband and one for Tv.
Anyway, they now tell me that when I opened my broadband account I also entered into a new TV contract! No one said anything about this to me at the time! If I'd known I was enting inta new contract I would've haggled fora better deal, especially as I'm paying full price for the broadband. MOney grabbing, cheating b*******s!!  :mad:GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN
