My sister wants to carry on recording from sky onto her VHS video recorder. Can she record one sky channel like that, while I record another onto the hard drive?

Also does the Sky+ box record only through the satellite dish, or can you also record through the old tv aerial like you can with a VHS or DVD recorder?

Sorry about so many questions. I asked Sky this on the phone but guy couldn't answer - he kept going on about multiroom which we don't want.

I am a current Sky customer and wanted to upgrade to Sky +. After reading this thread, I rang them, I was quoted £99 for a box and £64 installation, so I asked to be put through to the cancellation dept. The cancellation dept. offered me the same terms as the leaflet, free grade A box and free installation. But they explained that a grade A box is reconditioned, and has less recording time than the new models. As I was offered a new box for £49 with free installation, I opted for that. It's being fitted on Wednesday.

I think a lot of it is about holding your nerve and convincing them that you will cancle if you don't get what you want.

There was also a post from an ex sky employee who said that Wednesday and Thursday is the best day to get them to give you a deal. They only have so many deals to give away each week so often by Friday all the deals have gone for that week. If you call on Monday they are a little worried about using all the deals to soon.

i had a leaflet in the post this morning to introduce a friend to sky and they will get a free sky+ box and free standard installation

my boyfriend and i have sky+ already in my name at our current property but we are moving in approx 2 weeks, so i was going to introduce my boyfriend so he can get free sky+ at our new address. is there a way we can also get the £30 m&s vouchers each?

we would have considered sky hd if it wasn't £299 for the sky hd box and £60 installation! is there a way to get this any cheaper?
  • I was told would not receive an offer as I am tied into sky for another 9 months becuase I took out Broadband out in Feb this year, even though I have been a sky customer for 10 years or more.

Customer services- £99+£80 fitting would not budge dispite saying offers I was aware of for customers who left.

Rententions-only interested if I could cancel, which I couldnt.

Tried various routes, no sucess- each area had a clear mandate on what they could offer, and it was clearly driven by new business and retaining customers who could leave.

In the end I sent a message to viewer relations via sky.com website, saying how I was dissapointed with sky and how if I had asked for Sky+ before broadband I would have been offered either free recon box or brand new box for 49, and how I felt that upset I was going to cancel at end of contact on principle.

Bingo- Lovely girl from viewer relations called, said she understood how I felt as a loyal customer and promptly offed a Brand new box £49.00 free fitting, no monthly fee.

do you think i would be able to get a free sky+ ox by sending thios to viewr relations
I am very dioappointed with Sky. As I would like Sky+ but I can't as it is too expensive at 159.00. I wouldn't mind any sky+ box for free but you haven't got any.

I know this is off topic but I had my free sky+ installed last Saturday (PVR1) and this afternoon my viewing card stopped working , I have spent ages on the phone to sky trying out various things and all they can come up with is my card is broken and they will send me another in a week . Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else as it seems strange to have happened since getting a recon. box.
Never pay more than you have too

Viewer relations are very poor in my opinion, had an email from them saying........"On checking our records, I can advise that you have received various subscriptions offers over the years, therefore your loyalty is acknowledged and I am concerned that you do not feel the same."

a very poor response in my opinion.

I rang the 08703 360 150 number this afternoon (new customer) and quoted Sky+IAF, the advisor asked me what the offer was for and I told him free Sky+ and free installation. He said 'yes' and put it through for me.
He did ask the name and postcode of the friend who had Sky and that was that.
Told me it was a new Sky+ box and fitting would be a week today.
    Very pleased moneysaver
