Or the annoying twonk who pulls themself out of their seat using my headrest and hair! Or who reclines onto my lap at food time. Or who farts non-stop during the flight.

Flying in economy is generally crap but its a necessary evil if you want a cheap holiday. If you want to avoid all of the above, then payout for business.

    Totally agree!!

Screaming kids I can cope with - never heard of earplugs/headphones? ;)

It's the annoying brat in the seat behind that keeps kicking the back of my seat that gets my goat.

Oh no! It is the person who is larger than average that gets mine. Once they have shoe horned themselves into the seat next to me, I am uncomfortably squashed for the entire duration.

Here's an idea for you OP. Next time you book your holiday, why not call the airline first to see if there will be any babies on your flight. If there are, try somewhere else ?

I assume that when/if you have children you will be holidaying in the UK ? I agree about the Dom Rep/Butlins comment.

A good way to keep young babies quiet on flights, is to breastfeed them. Of course, you normally end up with someone sitting in the seat opposite moaning about how "disgusting" it is so parents often can't win.

Still, I daresay that screechy baby is one day going to be working and paying tax in order for you to have your pension. So look on the bright side!

  • I agree with the posts above flying in economy can be very annoying sometimes and it is something you need to accept.

When i put the original post on, in the vent forum as a vent I did not say children should not fly so sorry if I offended anyone there it was not meant in this way. However, the vent was about them screaming which is frustrating for the other passengers.

Elsiebutt65 - agree flying economy is crap but its worth it for the outcome when you get to the destination, and yes its cheap.

Bod47 - fortunately we had taken great headphones incase of this eventuality. We were lucky didnt have anyone kicking our seats and have not done for many years.

What we have on this thread is a total lack of consideration shown by parents towards other passengers. I don't want to hear your kids screaming for 9 hours, 9 minutes or 9 seconds. Your apologetic looks and weasel words cut no ice with me. We wouldn't be expected to put up with adults screaming at the top of their voices on the aircraft so why would you expect your screaming kids to be treated any differently.

You are comparing a screaming adult with a baby?

You really didn't think that one through did you ...

Have you thought of asking for a seat on the wing?

This thread pretty much reflects society and it's intolerances, let's pick on allergy sufferers, parents of children, overweight people, any more for the list of people who shouldn't be allowed to fly?
