    Bradford. Most definitely not.

We've been looking at Brighouse on-line, it seems about the right size, and I like the idea of living near the river, much like I am in York. The rental prices on rightmove are cheaper than what I am paying in York. It's good for my gf (15 mins on train or car) and reasonable for me, as I'll only be in York perhaps once a week. We'll be investigating over the next few weeks methinks.

Barcode, Nawt wrong with becoming a Cass lass!!

What about somewhere like Church Fenton. It is on the train for York.

Halifax or Bradford in west yorks and they are easy train to york.

Church Fenton is so near York they might as well stay in York....... there are some nice villages around and abouts Halifax ...Hebden Bridge is a bottle neck when trying to commute...believe me I know...the train links are great but overcrowded at rush hour ...Hebden Bridge is also expensive ...in the house price or even rental way....

It takes two hours to get from Halifax to York or thereabouts by train, I have done it loads of times....when I was not fit enough to drive....

Also Barcode is going from YORK to HUDDERSFIELD area......
And I have done reading & geography.. too ! ;)

Skipton is on the York train line from Leeds. I don't know it well but I think it seems nice. There are some lovely villages on the outskirts of Leeds but if you are relying on public transport that might be a problem.

I think the people in Castleford are lovely, but I think to a fair extent it is quite run down. I wouldn't want to be in the train station at night on my own. I've seen lads with bongs or cider and attitude there a few times.

I do love Leeds and it is fairly central for you. Don't write it off until you've had a look at some of the nicer areas.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Oh I love Skipton, Gingham...its a lovely little market town...and I love to go there for shopping. We also meet our biker friends there and quite a lot of them are from York, so yes I guess its about halfway...Misty

Regarding Huddersfield, basically within 3 miles of the town center is not worth looking at but some of the surrounding areas are very, very nice.

As you have to get to work in York have you not thought about looking at towns beside/near to the M1 junctions?

Basically i will give my opinons of the towns mentioned and add some advice:

Castleford, bit rought for my liking, people are sound though same with Pontefract.
Wakefield, some nice ares like Crofton and that side but not to my personal liking, plus point near to M1 junction.
Dewsbury, My hometown so i am biased but Dewsbury has its own problems and they way the demographic in the town is going (and certain elements within that certain demographic which make the national news every now and again make it somewhere i would not move into, couple of very nice outlying villages though, like Whitley). EDIT or for a more in depth review of my hometown:

Huddersfield, stick away from housing within 3 miles of the center and your fine.

Brighouse, Never considered this myself but don't hear anything bad about the place either.

Mirfield, Nice area (keep away from London Park estate though) and is somewhere i would seriously consider living myself.

    Other places you could consider:

Ossett, not too bad, next to a motoway junction not too far from the larger town of Wakefield, within half an hour of huddersfield...

The Villages between the M1 junction at wolley edge and Huddersfield itself. Such as Emley, West Bretton, Clayton West, Skelmanthorpe, Scissett etc) Some of these areas are vey desireable. I would live there myself if i could afford.

(the edge of Huddersfield is on the far left of the map).

Just a few ideas for you/my opinions.
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

    Whitechapel, Leeds.
It all happens there, a throbbing, cosmopolitan boulevard

What is wrong with Wakefield anyway? It is a huge place so not all the areas of it are rough.
